Alabama coming off a tough come from behind win. Gators finally looked fairly good. Sat night in Tuscaloosa matching two top 10 teams. I don't envy Alabama's schedule. They played Arkansas who was rated in the top 10 Sat., play the Gators who are in the top this coming Sat., play a tough S. Carolina team the week after and still have LSU and Auburn who are both ranked in future weeks. Tough schedule. At least I now think the Gators have a chance.
Guess which team sports a 30-2 W/L record over the past 2 1/3 seasons? ....Both Bama and Florida are each 30-2 in their last 32 games. 8)
Looking forward to this matchup. I just don't know what to think about Florida except that they are very, very talented. Kind of like a box of dynamite bouncing in the back of a pick up truck. Could go off at any time.
Well... I'm back from the Bama/Hog game. Love going to games when I don't really have a dog in the fight! I'll probably have to go with the Tide based on the fact they've already faced the big game stage on the road, and shown they can take the heat. UF now has to demonstrate the same. Gonna be fun, and I'll actually get to watch it since the Aggies don't play Saturday.
Reading this gives me a little hope: http://www.gatorsports.com/article/20100926/ARTICLES/100929608/1090/gatorsfootball?Title=Gators-prepare-for-Bama I expect Bama should get the Gator's best shot.
MCG, And I guess if we win, that means we didn't get your very best shot? I think Florida are finally clicking. Like I told Bill, the Alabama secondary is still very young and they can't have blown coverages like they did last week, if we are to have a chance.
Kp, I think....supported by this article....that you will get Florida's best shot. That may not......probably won't be good enough but I think their heart and soul will be in it.... .......all week.
That link didn't work for me, I don't know if it's the same article or not but here's a link. Gators Prepare For Bama As far as best giving the best shot, any thought that Florida didn't give their best shot last year is idiotic. Our best shot that day was not good enough. End of question. I see the 7 point spread fair at this point in the season.
Same article Bill....and a good one. I didn't realize my link was not functioning. It sure seems from reading it that UF will be a cohesive....singularly focused team on Saturday. That is great.....but certainly doesn't mean much if they don't execute and /or they can't match Bama's talent. I was at the game last Sat. and saw several OL get up limping and I hope those guys are healed fully by this Sat. or it could still be a long night. Early prediction based on the OL being OK and some production form Demps: Bama 27-24 Without Demps and some other key injuries on offense I have to say 31-17 Bama. Heavy money going for the Tide.....line was 7 at the open and now has moved 2 full points toward Bama to minus 9. I wonder when was the last time UF was this much of an underdog.....probably vs. LSU in 2005. That's a huge move in one direction. http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/las-vegas/
I agree on both points, kp. I think the secondary needs to play better to beat Florida--there were too many missed assigments against the Hogs, and it nearly cost them the game. Also, I'm no expert on spreads, wagering, and all, but it would still be a very chilly day in July before I gave Fla 9 points in this one! Roll Tide
I am now seeing a glimmer of hope: http://www.gatorsports.com/article/20100928/ARTICLES/100929509/1136?Title=Notebook-Gators-Tide-switch-roles Apparently from everything I read the Gator players think this is a huge game and have been thinking about it since last year. I remember reading the same thing about Bama on their desire to exact revenge on UF last year re: the SECCG game with UF. Now...I have heard this isn't that big of a deal to Bama so I think we may have a shot.... 8)
Trey Burton plays Qb, RB, WR and I think TE. He would have had TDs running, catching and throwing if the UF receiver had not stumbled on the way to a TD on his 42 yard pass play. It was Ky....but the Cats were 3-0 and UF was on everyone's "upset" alert. I was there...and this kid can flat out play from what I saw.
Terry, I don't see Burton as the starting Tailback. However I didn't see him in the prominent role he has played so far either.
It might be a good week to play Alabama. Coming off a real tough game against Arkansas. Sometimes it's hard for good teams to have that A+ effort two weeks in a row. PJ in Jersey
