I'm sure we've all seen reports about the NY Times recent expose about the Bush Administration's financial war against terrorism. Here's just one of many links. http://michellemalkin.com/archives/005427.htm Understand that within 2 weeks of 9/11 the very same NY Times came out in an editorial encouraging the Bush Administration to track down the financial resources of the terrorists. That's right, the same hypocritical assholes who now write about our governments efforts to fight terror in the name of the public's need to know and claim it violates rights, espoused the exact same action. Yes, the press, the same ones who when asked about their sources, cry about how "freedom" of the press cannot be maintained without secrecy, now have no compunction about disclosing national security secrets. The hypocritical left will do anything to criticize the present administration including impeaching itself. How pathetic are they?
They see an opening to attack the administration and they take it, they know their brothers in the media will support them as hero's not traitors. I mean after all isn't the media more trustworthy than the goverment in terms of what the public has a right to know? Yeah right. They should face serious consequences for what they did, but they won't.
I found this posted. This is a NY Times editorial September 24, 2001 Monday Section A; Column 1; Editorial Desk; Pg. 30 Finances of Terror The Bush administration is preparing new laws to help track terrorists through their money-laundering activity and is readying an executive order freezing the assets of known terrorists. Much more is needed, including stricter regulations, the recruitment of specialized investigators and greater cooperation with foreign banking authorities. There must also must be closer coordination among America's law enforcement, national security and financial regulatory agencies. ... Washington should revive international efforts begun during the Clinton administration to pressure countries with dangerously loose banking regulations to adopt and enforce stricter rules. These need to be accompanied by strong sanctions against doing business with financial institutions based in these nations. The Bush administration initially opposed such measures. But after the events of Sept. 11, it appears ready to embrace them. The Treasury Department also needs new domestic legal weapons to crack down on money laundering by terrorists. The new laws should mandate the identification of all account owners, prohibit transactions with "shell banks" that have no physical premises and require closer monitoring of accounts coming from countries with lax banking laws. Prosecutors, meanwhile, should be able to freeze more easily the assets of suspected terrorists. The Senate Banking Committee plans to hold hearings this week on a bill providing for such measures. It should be approved and signed into law by President Bush. Can you believe the gonads on these folks? The only people worse are those that pooh, pooh, the claims of the bias of the MSM. How naive do you have to be?
I'm still stunned about this and how far a liberal paper will go to harm the President without regard to how it harms the country. I also posted some cartoons in a NYT topic before I noticed this topic.
I heard John Kerry say on Bill O'Rielly on Thurs that he thinks whoever leaked the information should be found and prosecuted. He waffled on what should happen to the N.Y.Times. Terry
