Oregon looked extremely good this week. There is no comparison between them and the UT-Martin team we dispatched with little effort. However, likewise, there is no comparison between this Tennessee team and the Lobos that Oregon blew out of the stadium. Should be an excellent game to watch if you don't have a dog, or a duck in the fight.
What time is the game Tom? If it's an afternoon affair, I hope to see at least some of it... (Cuz I don't quack or bark!) 8)
It is scheduled for ESPN @ 7pm eastern. And I do have a dog  in the fight. I hope the dog has duck for dinner.
 The Duckies are very good at the skill positions. They will score against everybody, so the Vols will need to bring some offense.
Hopefully this game will give the Volunteer Faithful a few more answers about the current season. Happy hunting. Don
Oh Crap!!! Multiple players on the Tennessee team accused of theft. Coach Dooley even advocates this! Reported on the Coach Dooley show, steeling points before the half and again at the end of the game points toward success. Say it isn't so coach. We must be model citizens on and off the field! 8)
Don't get me wrong Corey... I know that one game against a lower opponent does not a dynasty make. I do have more hope after this game though. I have the hope that the offense can continue to produce and that the defense is strong enough to clip the wings of the Ducks. The realist in me says Oregon by 2 TDs. Having seen the "hope and change" that Dooley has brought in, the optimist in me says Tennessee by 1 TD. This game will tell us a lot about the heart of this team. It will be challenged in the second game far more than it was in the first.
I would have more hope for the game on the 18th if I were you. UF's foibles last Sat. certainly must have the Tenn. masses all abuzz.
Tom, It's so early and weird things happen, who knows how it will turn out. The one thing I do know is that I was kind of surprised when Nate Costa didn't get the starting nod at QB... and then I saw why. Oregon may or may not be a lot of things this year, but goodness are they fast.
One thing that the SEC definitely prides itself on is "Speed". So we'll get to see if West Coast Speed is equal to Southern Speed!
#1 receiver from the UT-Martin game is out with a broken bone in his hand. Young receiving corps must grow up fast.
I think Tenn is going to be improved under Dooley.....but not enough just yet. Probably not until the 3rd Saturday in October.... Oregon 23-17
As noted in another post, Tenn will be an improved team from a Hygiene standpoint....not sure if they will be on the field...yet. I'd have to go with a pretty good Duck win....besides Blue Tick hounds are for hunting squirrel and possum I believe, not Ducks!!
Terry, I am not going to fall into the trap of believing that we will have the same success tomorrow as we had last week. I'm not going to expect the same offensive production. I also do not expect Oregon to experience the same offensive production they had against the Lobo's. I truly believe that the Vols are going to shock the world tomorrow. I will call it: Tennessee by 3. I'm not going to hazard a guess at the final score. I think that Dooley will keep the offense conservative to reduce mistakes. I believe that we will see a repeat of the defensive scoring with at least 7 points being credited to the defense. Tennessee is running on the "C" word. No, it is not cocky. No, it is not celebratory. It is the best "C" word ever: cohesive. Other descriptive terms being tossed around are: Us and We rather than I an Me. This group from the head coach to the water boy is a team!
This should be a good game. I like Dooley and think he'll do a good job.... but Jesus is Oregon fast. As someone noted, SEC teams pride themselves on speed so we'll see how this goes. It should be fun and once again, hats off to both teams for sacking up and playing each other... There's other people working the IAA circuit currentl while bitching about non-deserving DI teams. Games like this make football season fun.
So far, so good. We can't keep scoring field goals but 6 - 0 is a good start. Oregon hasn't taken an offensive snap yet. After the first field goal, Oregon fumbles on the kickoff to start our second drive. We have had spurts of greatness with several long runs but no TDs. We are in a lightening hold and had the momentum on our side when it was called. We'll see what happens when they come back out.
13 - 3 and the Vols completely dominating the game. Oregon may be deep enough to come back. However no matter the final outcome, what I have seen so far is that Dooley will have this team prepared and will get the best out of the. You guys got the better of the deal when Kiffen left. Great effort by the Vols so far.
