Today was the most pathetic I have seen a Florida team look on offense in a long time. The defense was decent but brought no attitude or nastiness whatsoever. The only reason Florida even won the game was the sheer athleticism of a handful of players. I see some paybacks this season by our rivals whom Meyer is 14-1 against....Tn, Ga and FSU. I see complete domination and ugliness in Tuscaloosa and a bowl just might be in doubt for UF at this point. I would gladly take the Outback right now. Oh well.....when you get so many new faces you never know but I have to say it looks like the coaches were sunbathing all summer instead of coaching. The new Meyer has lost some intensity and it shows.
I wouldn't put too much stock in today's UF performance, but having said that I also would be worried that something fundamentally was wrong. I'm sure it's not the season start that y'all were looking for. Let's see what happens next week.
Count me as very concerned about next week. You know......if the worst happens this year so be it. Hard to keep the level of play going that UF has mostly had under Meyer. This year could be one of those "blip" seasons.
Way too early to tell. Florida may need to go to the other center though if they want to stay in the shotgun.
Well it was pretty effin ugly and I think most gator fans would agree. There is nothing worse than playing a game and it leaving you with more questions than answers... I don't think it will be as bad as it showed in this first game but the Miami defense out-played the gator offense and if not for the great athletes on the gator side it might have been a check in the win catagory for Miami of Ohio....Miami's offense was pretty bad though... The antacid tablets are being dispersed among the gator coaching staff as we speak... It could be worse though, Ole Miss was beaten by Jacksonville St... RC
I have always called em as I see em and that is what hasn't fit too well. In this case....you would have to be blind I guess not to clearly see em the way Florida stunk the place up.
You had a lot of young guys out there... or "new" ones. I wouldn't put a lot into it yet. Fix your snapping problems, and it looks a lot different. If big issues persist after week 2... then you can start the hand-wringing.
The one thing I noticed is that FL did not have much of a running game between the tackles, but those speedsters around the ends.....Oh my!
You have speed that can't be coached. your issues lie in timing and execution.. those can be corrected. You guys aren't dead and I ain't buying it. Besides, it's not like you're Ole Miss HAHAHAHAHAHAAHA
I don't really see it as a "long season" for the Gators, that snap will be fixed. It might not be an undefeated season, for sure, but not a long season. Some Texas fans took the less than stellar effort vs Rice as an indication that we are going to lose 3 games at least this season. Of course they could be right, but I don't think so.
Dave. You Gators have been spoied the last few seasons! Just remember how it use to be before those terrific seasons.
Don/Terry/Corey: I think Corey's right in that UF has too much speed and athleticism to be totally terrible all season and we did have some key starters out on the OL so there is hope. However....the Gators have indeed had some great seasons over the past 20 years but there have been some stinkers thrown in like Meyer's debut in 2005...(UF vs Bama 3 - 31 result ) and just about all of Ron Zook's years. Those down years did result in Outback Bowl appearances and since I am now TBD.....I can see myself making my way over to the Ray Jay to see the Gators take on Joe Pa in his last game as a college coach. Florida would have to improve considerably though to make even that a reality.
