Batten down the hatches, looks like Earl is going to make it a very wet weekend for you!! Ruining your golf no doubt!
Yeah, Buck. If you need me to assist in storem prep I can be down there by car in 9-10 hrs. I'll bring my golf clubs.
Unless he changes course it shouldn't be too bad...a little wind and some rain, but no worries. Looks like Hatteras and the Outer Banks will get whacked pretty good tho....as long as the power stays on for the Buckeye game Thursday nite!
No real change in storm track....still expecting a brush by our coast here and skirting by with more severe conditions for Hatteras and the Outer Banks on its way to visit Krebsie....storm prep - more wind prep - underway Krebsie but tomorrow supposed to be gorgeous...we got one or two nice courses in the area, I'll make a tee time....! 8) Not supposed to be a big deal, but in the past once wind speeds have exceeded 50 kts or so they shut down the power substation that supplies my development as a preventative measure.....probably will happen right about the time of kickoff......! That would suck.....
I wish I could afford one of those natural gas home power stations. Since our storm experience the last few seasons people are starting to put them into their homes and they are an option on new homes.
Interesting....not familiar with those. Most in my area that have back up power systems have gas powered generators that are plugged into the house power grid.....fortunately have not needed one, as I have neither!
You can of course get Diesel or Gas powered ones, but then you have the issue with the fuel. During Ike where a lot of people were a week without power they'd have run out and had to go stand in lines at the gas stations and you have to fill up a lot of 5 gal cans. With Natural gas of course you just hook it up like you would your grill or the house (if you have natural gas stove and other appliances). There are automatic systems that turn it on when the power grid goes down. Since the gas lines are all buried you are pretty much guaranteed you'll have available fuel, although I'm sure there is something that could go wrong there since no system is perfect. You can get them in all sizes from large enough to run a few things all the way up to whole house, the whole house ones are pretty expensive considering you might never use it or only use it for a day or two over 10 years.
