I'm astounded at the performance of the American League Central Division. They aren't just beating National League teams, they're crushing them. Our games with the Twinkies are over in the first three innings! They have pitchers whom we can't hit and batters whom we can't get out and these guys are in THIRD PLACE? Holy Tamole! It looks like that division was doing poorly before, because they were sitting on a mountain of talent down below in the minors and didn't rush it up before it was ready. Now the talent has arrived and they're reaping the rewards...

BTW- there's a rumor that the Dodgers may have obtained a pitcher from Tampa Bay named Henrickson, along with some catcher named Hall. Has anyone ever heard of them? Or are we just grasping at straws over here?

As of today, the White Sox, Tigers, and Twins are 37-6 in interleague play!

We're certainly taking our lumps and given the results of the last two World Series, they are deserved. :(

Cheer up. I think that this is the first year since '03 that the NL could win a World Series game.

One thing is for sure, the National League doesn't have any excuses that make sense. Many of the smaller franchise markets are in the American League and some National League teams, like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Atlanta and Houston have three times as much money to invest in winning as the American League franchises that are kicking their arses. How about friggen Oakland? Even the people who live in San Jose and Stockton won't go to the A's games and yet they're a better ballclub than most NL teams that have twice as much money. There's been some good front office work in the AL, especially at Detroit, Minnesota and Oakland.

Of the 10 best teams in baseball right now, 9 of them are in the American League. The Mets are the only NL team that look competitive with them at the moment. In the immediate future, only the Dodgers, Dbacks, Stros, Cards and Braves are even trying to catch up. What the Cubs and Giants are doing is spinning their wheels and in the case of the Cubs, their annual efforts are pathetic. There's nothing lovable about losing since 1908, when they have the money to win it every year. The AL has demonstrated that efficiently run small franchises CAN compete on the field. Lets hope that the NL has been paying attention. The current won/loss differential is off the chart and heads should roll at some of those NL teams...especially Chicago...IMHO.

This is esp galling for old guys like me who grew up assuming beating the AL was a birth right. In my hey dey, the AL was the Jr. circuit for a reason...they weren't as good as the NL.
