With the ranking of Boise at #3 in the AP poll as it is almost a given they will be in the BCS Title game if they get by Va Tech in a couple of weeks. You have to wonder if they can hold up to the pressure.....even if they do get by the Gobblers. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/13797589/champion-alabama-no-1-in-ap-poll-for-first-time-since-78 "Only 10 of the 60 previous preseason No. 1 teams have won the national championship. And only two (Florida State in '99 and Southern California in '04) have held the top spot for the entire season." I wonder how Ohio State feels about playing Boise for the BCS Title.
Didn't Boise open it's season last year pounding Oregon? That was the Blount punch game. I think Boise is in mid season for to play this game because of its importance. Va. Tech. on the other hand has a long season to get ready for. I like the Broncos chances.
If we are fortunate enough to earn the right to play for the BCS Title, we'll be there regardless of the opponent....one of the key elements of our long and proud heritage is that we'll play anybody, anywhere, anytime.....it's in our DNA....if Boise earns the right, we'll see them there.
Uh.....duh. I am not a fan of OSU by any means as you know but this time around I think OSU get's to that game and Tressel has the better prepared team and prevents the BCS buster from bustin it. My preseason prediction for what it's worth. Against anyone else I'll have to re-evaluate at the end of the season.
 Fan, perhaps not, but I would suggest that depends on ones definition. Obsession, however, is evident.....
No obsession....just an observation based on this: http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=17300&SPID=10408&SPSID=87745 A talented and experienced QB playing this schedule looks like a lock to win em all. Eight home games? Also.....the non-con is non-existent.
Boise also has to play Oregon State. I really cannot wait to hear the future songs of insanity to come out of the traditional super conference jesters who have been saying for years: 1. We'd respect the Pac10 more if they had a title game. 2. Until you run the table in a super conference and win a super conference title game, you have no idea how tough it is. 3. The Mountain West is not a real conference. The facts are.. the Pac10 will soon have their title game. The MWC will soon be a collection of every giant killer in college football and even their bottom dwellers have done very well against others from the BCS powers. I really can't wait for the days of 'well they are playing for the title in August' threads to be gone... especially from a guy whose conference is a 2 team race for the 3rd year in a row.
Dude, at least you're consistnet. There is something to be said for that..... Ralph, my friend, pay no attention to the slight, I'm sure he meant nothing by it.....looking forward to a great game on Sept 11. Looks like I'll be lucky enough to get home for that one.... Gator, please stop shouting, unhand your member, pull up your pants and get down from the table.....
Got to agree, their toughest non-com is Miami (Fla.) Lets face it if the toughest game you have is a Florida school your scheduleis non-existent.
As usual...I present some facts that while true may be distasteful to you BT and all you have is a flame. What about defending OSU's schedule or offering some defense of that schedule? No slight meant to Ralph......it's just a response to this: "we'll play anybody, anywhere, anytime.....it's in our DNA" An obvious attempt at a flame disabled by some facts. Carry on......flamer.
Gipper, Boise State did open last season with a convincing win over Oregon at home. I love watching Boise State and if they get to the championship game there's a good chance I root for them. Of course if it's against the Gators that isn't true. Maybe the best bowl game I ever watched, not including any Gator bowl games, was when Boise State beat Oklahoma. I think that playing on the road against Va Tech is going to be a tough assignment. However if the Bronco's are as good as advertised they have a good chance of winning. This game should tell us a lot.
Hey Corey, there's a lot of us who can't wait for the PAC 10 to have their playoff and for Boise State to move to the MWC. Unfortunately Utah will be leaving which kind of negates the gain in strength with Boise State coming in. BYU is also talking about leaving which would not help the strength of their conference. As to your last remark about two team conference, I assume you are talking about the SEC. I don't see where it really does any good to take a shot at MCG, which he no doubt deserves, with that kind of remark. You know very well that the SEC is more than a two team conference even if two teams have separated somewhat at this point. Even conceding that I hardly think you can compare playing LSU, Auburn and Georgia with playing weak teams. But then we do know you feelings about the SEC.
Asked..... Answered..... Because we do, we will, we have and it is.....perhaps you ought not ask the question if you find a factual response offensive. Forgive me if I find this a little puzzling.... They can't all be true.....if you view them as facts and our non-con is non-existent, then you are in effect saying that Ralph's Canes are non-existent which would seem to me to be somewhat shall we say dismissive...... If you think, as we do, that the Canes are very talented, capable of playing great football and on any given day taking the measure of anyone, anywhere, then our non-con is not non-existent and you did not present facts but rather a return trip to the table top, member in hand..... Which is it?
Utah is leaving, but Fresno State and Nevada are coming in. Utah leaving hardly negates Boise coming in as I could argue that Boise has been more successful over a longer period of time. BYU might be leaving, but that wouldn't be very smart. Also, the MWC is now looking at adding a play-in game with CUSA for a BCS spot. Honestly, given the aggressive nature of both the Pac10 and MWC this summer I am starting to think that the WAC and eventually the Big12 are dead men walking. This will be interesting to see it play out. Allegedly, the way to the BCS is to do it the way the SEC has done it. We'll see...
In my opinion this should be a great game. At this point I think I will give the edge to the Hokies, as it is a home game for them.
I like Va Tech for one big reason.....BSU will have the choke yoke around their neck all season and this is one great opportunity for that to tighten.
No feathers ruffled here my friends...It's all in good fun and part of the building excitement of the oncoming college football season.... I pick Va tech to edge out a win because of home field advantage but don't count out Boise in this game. Tech is normally a slow starter in the beginning of the season and lost some key players from last year...And Boise has been impressive... Ralph
Corey, negates is probably not the right word, close but your point is well taken. However it does lesson the gain of Boise State. Also I might ask if Boise is truly better than Utah then why didn't the Pac 10 go after them? I think you have a point about the Pac 10 and MWC being aggressive and the Big 12 could eventually be in trouble. If so look for Texas A & M and maybe Oklahoma to end up in the SEC.
Bill, Honestly, because the Pac10 is bigger than a 'football only' issue and Boise's athletic dept is frankly not up to Pac10 standards. If we're talking football.. that's one thing.. but bigger picture, Boise has some work to do.. And that, is why.
 Boise State doesn't qualify academically either. All of the 12Pac schools are academically superior except Arizona State...a mistake that the left-coasters have vowed to never repeat. They're still waiting for ASU to live up to the promises of academic improvement that they made long ago. No school will ever be admitted on promises again...
