Over on CFN we have this article about the SEC's strength and if that perception could vault a one-loss SEC Champion over an unbeaten team from another conference: http://cfn.scout.com/2/993213.html I guess it goes without saying that all things being equal these "experts" feel the SEC is a shoo-in for one of the spots.
All things being equal BT. They are debating that the SEC would have one loss vs. unbeaten teams by comparison. What would they be saying if all had one loss for example.....in other words....all being equal in the loss column.
Dude, I'm not going to stand in the way of your signature self-masturbatory chest thumping, I'm just soliciting other views......carry on.
Just clarifying what College Football News and it's panel of college football media experts has chosen to debate this week BT. Carry on with your redirection of what is posted and personal attacks if you must.
Tom, Since the inception of the BCS the debate of who are the top two teams at the end of the season....and why they are the ones invited to the BCS title game....is the debate of the most interest and impact to the college game. Pretty relevant article don't you think?
Dave, What you are not seeing is that I DON'T CARE. At one time, I would have enjoyed the success of the SEC. Now I hope for the Gators to get trounced just to turn your volume down a few notches. BT hit the nail on the head when he stated that your SEC brethren are embarrassed by you incessant ramblings.
So....you think it's more fun to discuss if Wisconsin or MSU is going to be 3rd place in the Big Ten? I don't think CFN is going to assemble a panel of media experts to discuss that one. I thought this was a forum with a national flavor to it. Maybe not.... One other thing.....these "incessant ramblings" as you put it are most often...90% of the time brought forth when someone has made negatively tinged statements about the SEC or about UF specifically......schedule, BCS etc. People come looking for a debate and they get one. If someone chose to tear into your Vols......which they dare not.....I suspect you would not stand idly by and take it without a counterpoint.
How many times have you seen me bragging on the superiority of the Vols. Even in the 98 championship season, my comments were on the line of: Now... 100% of the time, these "negatively tinged statements" are attributable to previous incessant ramblings. How many people, besides me, jumped on Tennessee for this gutless buyout from the UNC games? Nobody! How many would do so if I had been as much a braggart on the SEC as you have been??? At least half the board would have been on me like flies on s#!+. You bring this on Florida. Look in the mirror to see who's the blame for these negatively tinged statements.
Dear Gator, if after the number of times that you have engaged in the practice of self-masturbatory chest thumping on this forum and somebody tells you that you are engaging in self-masturbatory chest thumping, it is not a "personal attack". It is an observation..... When such observations are brought to your attention by multiple observers and you view them as "personal attacks" perhaps you should address the behavior rather than the observation of said behaviors....
That's a cop out answer. You'll have to look very hard to see topics started by me chest thumping UF's schedule (as highy rated as it is.) You will however see volumes of my responses after someone has already tried to place UF or it's schedule in a negative light. I am pretty fierce and effective with hard cold facts when the Gators or the SEC comes under attack and that just rattles you and those who think it's fun to poke the bear.
Keep in mind Corey the debate is a one-loss SEC Champion vs. unbeaten teams with regard to who gets in the title game. All things being equal I think the answer is obvious what these guys would say.
Here is an interesting perspective by another publication, Sporting News Today. Because it is in .pdf format, I can't cut & paste. I have linked the entire page, but the pertinent subject matter is in the far right column. One SEC team ranked too low and two SEC teams ranked too high
Corey, given CBS' affiliation with the SEC and their well deserved rep for being a conference shill, I found Dodd's comments interesting as well.....wonder if there wasn't a network reprimand waiting in his inbox after the airing of his views..... I also found agreement with this cross-section of comments from several of the "experts".... At the end of the day, I'm not much on hypotheticals, preferring instead to see how it plays out on the field and dreaming of the day when we get rid of the beauty/popularity contest.....
Yup... We shouldn't bow down and give in.. They basically demand that we do each year, and by November when they are all once beaten, they will point to these days when we 'didn't have an issue with the premise' as justification for the notion that they be #1 again...
Which of the last 4 years were "beauty contests"......just curious... ...and please list the end result of those 4 title games in which the "beauty queen" was annointed.
Just curious... Were there any other undefeated teams in the past 4 years that didn't get the chance to play for the title? Were there any other teams that had the same record as the beauty contest participant that didn't get invited to the dance? Were there any unbeaten teams left out in the last 4 years while a once beaten beauty queen walked the cat walk?
Which one of those beauty contest winners are you calling out that did not prove themselves worthy in the title game?
