So after pitching your batting pitcher 2 games in a row vs. the White Sox you finally had someone who could pitch on the mound. Yes sir, it takes real talent to lose a one hitter. Thanks for the help. No doubt you'll actually play baseball in Detroit this weekend.
Don't worry, the Astros are next up at US Cellular and they'll wear out the White Sox for you....or not!
SSShhhhaaaddddddduuuuupppppp!!!  Phat Albert's back Gipper!!! If Larussa doesn't see the value of bringing up Anthony Reyes now, I don't know what to say. That kid had a no hitter going into the 7th, when Thome ripped one. Hell, at least it was Thome.
ChiSox take it to the Astros. They are a very good looking team, in fact the Twins were a good looking team, AL Central looks to me to be very strong division. NL Central...apparently sucks! Terry
8) Bad? Did somebody say, "baaaad?" I saw bad tonight. The Pittsburgh Pirates are in town and they are a sick, sick, sicko operation. How sick are they? Tonights loss against the Dodgers was their 9th loss in a row, but its much worse than that. They flew in here from Kansas City. Think about it. The same Kansas City Royals that many experts are calling the worst team in baseball history SWEPT the Pirates three straight! In tonight's game, the Dodgers substituted in the middle innings to give the starters the rest of the night off. The mismatch was that bad. I don't want to call them a Triple-A team, because our Triple-A team at Las Vegas would kick their arse... BTW (This is for TerryO'K) Tonight's sellout crowd at Dodger Stadium was there for "Fernando Bobblehead Night." These Pirates are so bad, Fernando could have come down out of the broadcast booth and beaten them without taking his tie off...
Yer Pal Tracey is taking a lot of heat in Pittsburgh apparently....seems like people expected him to turn around 12 years of bad management in 3 months!! I hate Chicago! BTW if that Fernando Doll has a Cy Young it's FRAUD!! Yer ever luvin buddy Terry
It certainly looks that way. Well the good news for the Cards is that they only gave up 7 runs tonight. Their ERA vs the AL Central in the past 4 games was over 12. Say, how many Grand Slams are the Astros going to give up in this series with the Chisox?
Hey it's the best way for the relief guy to clear the bases at the starters expense ...so he can pitch with a clean slate!!
Speaking of Jim Tracy, Pirates manager, I heard an interesting piece yesterday on XM MLB 175. His son, Chad, a catcher, has been drafted by the Texas Rangers. They interviewed father and son on the radio. Nice kid. He talked about how, when they were living in FL and his dad was a coach for Montreal, he and his brother would skip little league all-star play to be with their dad in Montreal. He talked about how the only time he heard his dad cry (obviously on the telephone because of the distance) was when he told his dad he had been drafted. I enjoyed listening to both parts of the interview, son and father.
 Actually, both Dave and I coached Chad Tracy and his brother Mark. Dave is still over at Claremont HS, where he is on the varsity staff with manager Kevin Gross... I didn't coach Chad too much, but then he didn't require much coaching. I'll give you an example. I was coaching the Claremont Legion team four years ago and we had a practice. Two of us, myself and former Dodger Jose Morales were assigned to go work with Chad Tracy, who was a senior-to-be and the starting varsity catcher. Now I'm a former pitcher and Jose was an outfielder, so there are limits to what we know about the catcher's position, but what we found with Chad was unique. He was a hard working, self-motivated dynamo, who wanted to be a ballplayer more than anyone I've ever run across. Jose and I began questioning him to find out what he didn't know. This included set-up, positioning, calling pitches, reacting to foul balls from left-handed and right-handed batters, hiding the ball from the umpire and framing pitches... He answered every question correctly and in detail. After fifteen minutes of this, Jose and I just looked at each other and laughed out loud. Then we both said at the same time, "This kid knows more about catching than we do!" I'm not surprised that Chad Tracy is on his way. He was a standout at Claremont HS and Pepperdine University and he was the MVP of that league they play in. Based on my own personal experience with him, and I'm sure Dave would concur with this, Chad will make it. Beyond having all the tools and size that they're looking for, he has the kind of heart and courage that can't be measured. He's a winner. ....................JO'Co
Apparently 1 more, but we finally got a win in US Cellular! But it didn't really feel like a win after blowing a 9-2 lead. I wonder how the bullpen can look Roy Oswalt in the eye today. Looking at the AL Central's last 10 games, Tigers Chisox and Twins are all 9-1 ...very strong division. Will it be the biggest crowd of the year on Tues night to see Roger pitch? BTW have they ever decided what to do with the old Tiger Stadium? Or are they going to let it rust down and sell it as Iron Oxide? That's apparently what we are going to do with the Astrodome. Terry
Terry I don't know if they can get any more people into the COPA than they had for the series vs the Cards. I believe all three games were sellouts. Roger went for 300 here a couple of years ago and they had a sellout then. As for Tiger Stadium they're supposed to be announcing what their plan is any day now. I heard it may be some type of mall with them keeping the infield as some sort of park. Will keep you updated.
Nice touch to for Phil Garners return to Detroit to get tossed. I liked Lance Berkmans explanation of his getting tossed.
