Well fall camp will open all over the country next week. Hope will be high in many places, including South Bend! Here's a story Irish fans will like very much. It's about incoming freshman Danny Spond. He's now my favorite freshman! This is from a free article on Irish Sports Daily. Danny Spond
Wow! I love Kelly's recruiting. He fills in classes with dedicated fanatics who play multiple positions. That's perfect. Since Holtz left, we've had years where we had zero QBs and other years where we had only one QB or ran short at other positions. The current entering freshmen could get down to the fifth scholarship QB in their class and still come up with a kid like this. Wowza! There's a lot of reasons that I love Kelly's recruiting, but this kid will do as example #1. .........JO'Co
Looks like ND's 2012 schedule will be one of the nation's toughest, hands down, even though only 10 games are committed so far: Notre Dame's 2012 partially completed schedule
I'd say so, with Michigan, Miami, Oklahoma and USC as the marquee games and then throw in tough opponents like Mich State, Purdue, Boston College and not many teams will face a schedule as tough. I wonder who will fill the open slots.
The media's not happy, but in this era of twitter, blogs, etc., I understand and support Kelly's approach: Kelly & ND Put Strict Limits on Media Access
Interesting article. Coaches, players and the media are always at best a stand off. I don't remember those golden days that the author remembers, during my life as a sports fan (1950's to present) the media has always been loved by players and coaches when they write nice things, and hated when they don't. Who was that Philly pitcher who refused to talk to the media, he was a great pitcher but hated the media. I know Dan Pastorini once got into a fist fight with Dale Robertson a local beat writer after he wrote some things Dan didn't like, actually it was more like he took a swing at him and the writer took off running with Pastorini in chase. IMHO it is much ado about nothing.
ND <t>First I Just wanted to say it's great to see JO'Co back on the board again. <br/> <br/> Terry,<br/> <br/> I saw the article on the Spond kid too. Looks like a outstanding young man and I'm proud his is a part of the Irish football team.<br/> <br/> Less than 40 days from ND football! Man I can't wait to kick off the Kelly era.</t>
Coach Bryant was asked to give 5 bucks to contribute to flowers for a writer who had died. He said "Here's a $10, bury two". Ah the good old days!
That 2012 schedule is pretty exciting and scary. Since I've tried to stay away from the NDN board, (and it's for the better) I wonder what the reaction over there is. The schedule is one of their favorite bitching points. I wonder how excited the cheerleaders will be. Those that remember the Joe Moore trial remember the testimony about the linemen watching two cheerleaders perform in the bedroom of the hotel. Hey, any thoughts of a skybox get together for the Navy game in 2012?
 Dublin is possible with two years to prepare for it. Flight+hotel is around $1,600 from Los Angeles. Let's see how the market treats our investments. Maybe the stock fairy will leave something under my pillow.
I'm just worried about the airfare. I was hoping to stay with some of your relatives when we got there.
Sounds like a splendid idea, would Mary still be baking choc chip cookies and you doing the lamb burgers and lamb brats at the tailgater?
It'll be tough staying with my relatives. We're from the south coast. The O'Connors (grandpa) are from Tralee, County Kerry and the Buckleys (grandma) are from Cork. Do you think they have anything faster than a donkey cart to haul us to Dublin?
