Florida has added Chris Martin....who some services had ranked as the #1 outside LB in the country this recruiting season after Cal gave him his release. Adding this kid to what was already the best defensive class in history for Florida should make the Gator D pretty imposing for the next 3-4 years. I like it a lot...... 8) http://florida.scout.com/a.z?s=168&p=2&c=985390
It is one of the best defensive classes in quite awhile. I wonder if Martin will stay at UF. Once he became a 5* he waffled about where he was going to play his Sr. year, telling people he was going to the Hun School, then some place in Phoenix and finally ending up in Colorado. With college he was a "solid" ND commit, then he wasn't then he was, then he wasn't and was a solid CAL commit....now he's a solid Gator....at least for now.
Terry....his comments seem like the real deal. If he does indeed hook up with those D studs UF already has it looks like a scary defensive class for the Gators.....maybe one of the best in NCAA history...time will tell. One thing about the recruiting rankings over the years is that the accuracy of 5 star ratings type players has improved considerably with internet technology.
Martin <t>He's all yours. I'm sure he'll find something he doesn't like about UF eventually and transfer again. The track record on guys like this isn't good.</t>
So far he's all hype and no substance. The only thing we know about him for sure is that his word is no damn good.
I realize the response I am getting from the ND contingent is because he did commit to ND back in Feb before flipping to Cal. When he shows up in Fall camp we'll know more.
martin <r><QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> Oh it goes a little deeper than that. This kid committed to ND right after signing day of the previous class. After that it was a roller coaster ride with him everyday to see if he would stay with his commit. One day it looked good and then it didn't. He's looking at this team now, then he's looking at etc., etc, etc. When CW announced he was leaving you just knew it was an excuse for him to look elsewhere and as most of us expected he finally decided to go somewhere else. He just seems to change his mind at the drop of a hat! Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he will be a great player. All I'm saying is I'm glad he's in your camp instead of ours. <E></E></r>
Jus thought I would let you know that I'm back from camping and trying to catch up. I don't know about this show horse thing. That's usually a lower payoff than number one and number two. But in this case the show horse seems to be holding all the winnings at this point. Time will tell Tim, but I think the Gators might end up being glad he's in our camp also.
Post from another board on Chris Martin: Maybe he's finally found his home at UF and will be a great player, but he's starting to sound a lot like Ryan Perraloux
You never know with these kids, sometimes they just get so full of themselves from listening to people tell them that they are the next NFL 1st round draft choice and that the school who gets them should kiss their behinds. If you remember the Brown Brothers, Arthur and Bryce, the were both highly recruited can't miss kids who had a "family friend/street agent" looking out for them. Bryce took a month or so longer to evaluate the schools and coaching staffs to see if they were right for him. Arthur went to Miami, and isn't there anymore, Bryce went to Tenn and just recently sent Dooley a text message that he's not coming back to Tenn. It's probably been a shock to those kids systems that there are actually other kids out there equally or greater in talent than them. Sounds like Martin would have been a perfect fit for USC under Carrol.
Tim, since Tedford is not my coach I would have to say I respect his right to his opinion and don't even doubt that he means it. However as a Gator I choose to take Meyer's evaluation of players. He has a pretty good track record. So until Martin proves otherwise I am glad he's in Gainesville.
Sounds scary though. If any of it is true he has to make a huge change to have any chance to sticking in G-ville.
