Man when he loses Dem cheerleaders like Chris Matthews and Keith Oberman he's really lost everything. Here are some of their comments on his speech tonight. MSNBC On Obama
It's Bush's fault. That was the three second sound bite. As he was eating his shrimp salad the other day, garnished with tar balls and a hint of Valvoline 5W, I wonder if he thought to himself that he may be in WAY over his head.
And in the midst of all this misery, he still can muster the hubris to push the cap and trade scam which would finish off the economy if passed into law.
What Obama does or doesn't do is one thing. What happened before he took the reins of this ol geezer of a broken down horse does not get absolved just because we have a new rider.
Well why didn't he shake up the Dept of Interior and the MMS, which according to the Dems was racked with Oil Industry hacks loyal to Bush and his Oil buddies? Why did he allow the rigs to pass inspection? Oh he's doing it now of course, after the fact.
That's a damned good question.... I saw a stat this morning that said BP had 760 major "critical" safety violations over some given period of time and the industry average for that same period of time was just.....ONE.....of this specific major category of violation. Hard to believe that got the attention of no one before this disaster. But hey......it has been my understanding that if we just leave the fat cats of Wall Street and the Big Oil companies alone they will surely benefit us all......
Harry Truman had a sign on his desk in the Oval Office that said "The Buck Stops Here." Today in the Oval Office you'll find a sign that says "Passing the Buck starts here."
Has anyone seen FEMA through this whole debacle? How much of this is Bush's fault? Remember, he hasn't been president for 17 months.
I think that this answers your question http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2010/06/11/pelosi_well_stop_blaming_bush_when_the_problems_go_away.html
Geez...I wonder if 740 out of those 760 BP violations have occurred just in the past 1 1/2 years......
The period of time was June 2007 through Feb 2010. Plenty of time in each administration. Stupid to argue about it. You do have to wonder what the hell OSHA is doing. Just keeping count? http://www.publicintegrity.org/articles/entry/2085/
Thank you Stu for shedding a little truthful light on the subject. So....that shows where the finger should be pointing.....in several directions. However....that said....the man riding the horse now is Obama and he had better get this straight....real fast. A step in the right direction is getting BP to escrow the 20 billion.
Stu, I am not 100% certain on this but I believe that OSHA is relevant only on American soil. This being a Brittish company well offshore may not be something that OSHA has anything to do with. I think the determining factor would be how far off shore are they.
The citations were all OSHA infractions and occured in only two BP refineries... One was, uh, in Texas.8) The other was, uh, in Ohio. :?
