Terry, lots of speculation. Most would like Texas but don't feel it will happen. Most also like Texas A & M and think that might happen.

Talk also centers around North Carolina, Duke, Virginia and Virgina Tech.

I'm not sure we go to 16 teams but think 14 might happen.

My personal desire is Texas A & M and Virginia Tech. I would like Texas and North Carolina but don't think either one will happen.

Clemson and Georgia Tech are also mentioned from the ACC and Oklahoma and Oklahoma State from the Big 12.

Not a lot of mention of Miami and FSU.

whoa whoa whoa... have you ever been to Starkville? Auburn may be the loveliest little village on the plains but it's a **** hole in the middle of nowhere... Tuscaloosa is... well, a series of stripmalls, BBQ joints and a good college vibe.

The SEC is chalk full of some podunk towns... I can't believe you put Seattle on that list. Maybe Nashville would be comparable to Seattle but it is still nowhere near as beautiful and the football in Seattle is better.

    Corey,

I assumed he meant from an access point of view. I can easily get to just about any of the SEC venues for a reasonable price (drive most/fly some).
The PAC... cost and time are WAY up.

    Scenery-wise it's no comparison.
I've been to games in the west, and northwest and it's tough to beat that. (Although South Carolina was VERY pretty).

I have to wonder how well the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band will be received at places like Cal, Standford, and Oregon?

Not the most military-friendly places. Aggies have a LONG memory if you don't show respect for the services.

Since this is all about TV dollars. Why would the SEC be interested in FSU and/or Miami along with Ga.Tech...all those markets are SEC markets to begin with.

OK here's the latest from the talking heads....ND broke up the Big 12. Yep, if ND had accepted the invitation to the Big Ten, then Nebraska wouldn't have been invited this year and the Big 12 would have lived happily ever after. At least according to ESPN radio talking heads.

Even if true it isn't ND's fault.

TexAgs.com is reporting that SEC commissioner, Mike Slive, is in College Stations in serious negotiations with Texas A&M.

Also being reported that the Pac10 will invite Kansas, but everything I have read says that Kansas and Kansas State are tied together.

    Osborne quote:

"One team leaving does not break up a conference. Two teams leaving does not break up a conference. Six teams leaving breaks up a conference."

    and....

According to Harvey Perlman (NU Pres), Nebraska asked the 6 potential Pac10 defectors 3 simple questions:

    1. If CU leaves, will you be committed to the Big12--They answered yes.
    2. If MU leaves, will you be committed to the Big12--They answered yes.
    3. If both CU and MU leave, will you be committed to the Big12--They wouldn't say yes.

With all due respect I'm calling BS on the Neb Prez. Huskers wanted out of the B12. Nothing was going to keep them other than B10 telling them they decided to take some other team and stop at 12 teams.
