More talk of mergers, and movement.
Interesting to think about, but if his info in the rest of the piece is as far off as what he states about A&M then this is all BS.
The dude isn't right about a single thing he states with regard to A&M, other than we might like to join the SEC.

Of course, his target audience might be a clue as to why he'd have bad info with regard to anything maroon...

    PAC PACT?

    Interesting.

I have to scratch my head every time I read about academics being a reason to avoid a conference or join a conference.

I think that Texas A & M would be a good fit for the SEC. In the past I have read that Texas and Texas A & M would be a package, possibly along with Oklahoma and Oklahoma A& M.

It will be interesting to see how all this plays out.

I think I proposed just such an alignment a few months ago. It makes a lot of sense to me. This alignment would pretty much wrap up the USA west of the Mississippi and be a powerful conference when it came to TV negotiations. I would rather ditch the Red Raiders and keep Nebraska though.

Yeah, a PAC 16 looks viable, but the inclusion of Tech at the expense of Nebraska makes the veracity of this report seem even more dubious...

That should cover my use of big words for the rest of the year!

I read someplace that the whole thing with the Big 10/11 was to create a situation where Notre Dame had to join and all the rest was perhaps not necessary.

I don't really understand the desire to go to 16 teams, it seems to me that 12 is a fine number.

I wonder what happens to Kansas and Kansas State? I guess they could join the Mtn West. Kansas basketball would be a plum for anybody, the rest of their sports not so much, and KState just not that attractive. Iowa State and Baylor nobody would really want them. Neb and Mizzou if they don't go the Big 10 are screwed.

Nebraska will be fine one way or the other. If we end up migrating to 16 team mega conferences then Nebraska ends up in one of them, probably the Big 10.

I'm still not sure it happens, but if the Pac 10 and half the Big 12 make this move then it seems sure we are headed to the mega conference situation.

    I have mixed feelings.

Assuming 6 B12 teams go to Pac 10 and 2 Big 12 teams go to Big 10, that leaves KU, KSU, ISU and Baylor as the base for a new conference.

I wonder if TCU, SMU, Houston, Louisville and Rice and Tulsa would be interested in joining in forming a new conference?

    KU
    KSU
    Tulsa
    Iowa State
    TCU
    SMU
    Rice
    Baylor
    Houston
    Louisville

Louisville might want to stick with the Big East since there is an automatic BCS bid, but if the Big East loses that then the above conference would make more sense.

Of course they could maybe expand the Mtn West

Already adding BSU as the 10th team, they could add KU, KSU to make it to 12 teams and have 2 divisions and a playoff.

It's going to be a hard pill for KU basketball fans though to not be in a major conference.
