Probably next week. I think that unless they give the Mtn West an autobid, this might make it harder for them to make it to the BCS. While the rule doesn't state that they have to be unbeaten, that's pretty much how it's worked. They can't make the ranking they need to get the bid unless they are unbeaten. Boise State
I don't know Terry, that conference could become just to much to leave out of the BCS. They would be very strong and perhaps better than both the Big East and the ACC.
I think Bill is spot on here. When you look at what the current MWC members have done, you cannot deny their onfield success on a consistant basis. The real issue is that they are small in size (ala Big East) without the big TV market appeal that the Big East schools have... Adding Boise State (while doing nothing for TV markets) adds another member and one of high quality in the sports they choose to be competitive in. I think it would also help them in those sports that they aren't as strong. The issue at hand is that there are teams spread out over those 2 conferences who are regularly beating BCS conference teams.... but they don't come back together to have that 'true' champion... ergo, they will always be castaways. I do find it ironic that the potential shake up of the BCS conferences could actually hold up the expansion of the MWC. I still think think/believe that they need to make a push for Fresno State and possibly another team. The addition of Boise would give the MWC 10 teams. (The Big East has 8 ). The addition of Fresno State would put them in that odd 'Big Televen' situation but it would be one step closer to the preferred super conference format...
Well Boise State did not get an invite to the Mtn West. They decided to hold off on any expansion, pending what other conferences are going to be doing. Mtn West Standing Pat
