Good for them. It's unusal for a midwestern team to do that well, although last year the Michigan men were defeated in the semi-finals by A&M, with nephew Matt administering the fatal blow on the 18th hole. I think Minn won a Mens title within the last 10 years or so...it can be done but it's tough to out do the teams from the South, Southwest or West.
Congrats to the Boilermakers! Actually, Purdue offers a top notch golf academy/camp each year that targets HS and below. I wonder if that may have something to do with it?
Nephew who played at A&M was recruited by Purdue (mens!) and the coach told him that Purdue was putting a lot of money into their facilities and golf programs. He also played at the Purdue course in the 2008 Nat'l Championship and it was a great course he said. If they (Purdue) can put Astronauts in Space surely it's not a suprise that they can put a little ball in a cup!! Congrats again!!
Tim... I'm in the same boat with ya... My first thought was that I have been trying my whole life to accomplish that task as many times as possible. However, for the last 28 years, I have never played but one hole on that golf course. 8)
... and sometimes, when a certain member of the board of directors of that golf course reads these boards, it is a good thing to remind that member of that selective play at every chance when one is spending more time abroad than at home!
Purdue <r>Tom,<br/> <br/> I'm not sure what you are saying...I'm sure you are making a valid point but...No, I re-read it and I still don't know what the heck you are talking about! <E></E></r>
Open up your imagination Tim. Playing holes... and only one hole for the last 28 years... wink wink....
