Interesting, but I think complete horse (fecal matter). The whole idea that suddenly ND and Texas are buddies and want to play each other every year...oh my.
More power to the Big 10 if they pull that off. However I have major doubts that everyone but two schools would have to play 8 conference games while Texas and Notre Dame play 7. Frankly I am having some doubts that all this talk about conferences going to 16 teams actually happens.
Bill there is talk that Texas is exploring options for it's own Sports Network. I don't think it would compete with the B12 TV Network. More like show football replays, the minor sports, maybe some basketball. I could even see it picking up the few games that Texas doesn't get televised, there have been a couple of pay per view games, but that's all. It's of course fueled some speculation that Texas is going independent...which will never happen. Refresh me, it seems like the Gators did something like this with the Sunshine Network. Do you have a reference for it or can you outline what it is and does? Thanks
Scott what do Ag's think about not being in the same conference with Texas? Do you think the Leg would even allow it? Say Texas went to the Pac10 and the SEC offered A&M, still could play every year but wouldn't be in the same conference.
Terry, I wouldn't classify the Sunshine Network as being just Gator. The Gators were just a part. We do still have our games televised again on Sunday mornings, it's called Breakfast with the Gators.
It depends on who you ask Terry. Some of the older guys would lose their foundation of years of hate. Myself... I'd be a little sad, but we'd have a lot of impressive new schools to start rivalries with, so I'm not sure I'd really miss it that much. I'm not sure the legislature would/could get involved this time... If your scenario came about, it would be because major shifts in the conferences was occurring. Baylor and Tech aren't in positions of political power now like they were back when the XII was formed, so who's going to say "no" when realignment is tearing everything apart???
Yeah my senario would only happen if the Big 12 goes kaput, with Neb and Missouri going to the Big 10 and Colorado going to the Pac10. There are just no teams out there we could replace them with that would have any cache, adding TCU or Houston or teams like that would not give the conference more respect or bigger TV payday You always hear talk that where ever Texas goes A&M must follow...but I wonder why. I mean we could still play every year even if we aren't in the same conference.
