:x :x :x I saw it. I don't know if anyone else did. Right before the National anthem, sung by R Style?, the Boneheaded ARMY colorguard that was already formed and in line, did side steps to allow the group to come through to their mics. Right between the Colors. NO ONE, I REPEAT, NO ONE IS ABOVE THE NATION. The F#&^%$ Color Sgt that allowed the colors to be split like that after they had been posted, needs to have his head ripped outa his ass and have proper flag and Honor Guard protocol explained to this shithead in a loud and one way manner. That disgusted me, that showed me the ignorance and lack of caring we have in todays times about the importance and meaning of that flag. That Flag Dips or yields to no man, other nation or event.
Didn't watch, but I trust your knowledge in this instance and hope that those in charge were properly chastised and punished!
Further to this subject, the Senate is one vote short of the necessary 2/3 vote to send the flag desecration amendment to the states. House has already passed it. ACLU is appoplectic that it may pass. If so it will definitely meet with at least 3/4 of the state legislatures giving approval. If passed it will demonstrate to the courts, at least in one area, that speech means words, not activity. This is a perfect case for Article V.
Geeeezuz... Every morning I begin my day leading the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Sometimes the kids screw it up. They giggle or goof around or try to rush through it, at which point, I make them do it again. I don't get mad, because they're only in the 8th Grade and they really don't understand what the flag means; so I teach them what it means. One kid had to do it 5 times, by himself, in front of the class, until he got it right. The foreign kids don't have to say or do anything, but they do have to stand at attention and show respect, which is what I would do if I were in their country... BTW- I once substituted at a high school where the kids had never even heard of the Pledge. The principal, who was a grey-ponytail from the 60's with an Irish last name, didn't believe in pledging allegiance to any country, so the kids at this school didn't even know what it was. One kid asked me if the Pledge was "that song you sing before the game starts?" I informed him and the class that their principal was violating the laws of California, as well as pissing me off, because he wasn't Irish enough or smart enough to do his job right. You could have heard a pin drop, as the class repeated the Pledge after me. Not one kid ratted me off. I was just a substitute teacher for the day and the rule is they never call you back to work if you get even one complaint, but the kids did it right and they seemed to appreciate someone who cared about doing it right. I read in the local newspaper the following year that the principal had been fired. The school district didn't give a reason... - So while teachers out there are taking risks to hold the line, this Color Sgt, like that principal, has decided to make up his own rules as he goes? What a punk. I hope some corrective action is taken here. Some people just don't get it... ..............JO'Co
I did not see that incident. But I imagine that someone is in trouble. JO'Co, congratulations on standing your ground and that principal won't be missed.
