I think it depends on how good Auburn is vs. how good UF is.

UF comes in early and should be unbeaten so I think it edges out Auburn this year because I don't expect Auburn to be in the elite top 5 group by any means by season's end.

    That said....

I stated I would post Stub Hub pricing and the Aub game is almost identical to the Florida game in price range but.....the Penn St game is higher priced than either.....at the present time anyway.

I'll check back in with this as the season gets closer and during the season.

    http://www.stubhub.com/alabama-football-tickets/

The USC-ND game price range is: low on the low end but high on the high end..... 159.00-1800.00
I think that broad range is a function of the stadium......lots of seats but maybe only a few premium ones.

Of course you think of UF first and foremost. Let me give you a small clue since you don't seem to be able to by one with a Platinum Visa.

The world does not rotate around the Gators!!!

There has long been a rivalry between Alabama and Auburn. I would dare say that there is a higher percentage of Bama fans that want to go to the Auburn game than who will try to make the Gator game. Compared to the success of Bama, Florida is a flash in the pan. Sure, you have seen a great level of success as of late. College football is cyclical in nature. Just remember that.

Did you look at the link Tom?

I guess more than a few Bama fans do care about playing Florida.

I guess you also didn't read where I posted awhile back that dating back to 1950 Florida has had less losing seasons than any other team I could find....teams such as Bama, Michigan, ND, Tenn, etc.

The Gator's recent "cycle" of success is on a 20 year run....and most years in the 80s and several in the 70s were pretty decent years.

Yes....Bama has more NCs.....SECCs....for now......but UF is gaining ground in that department. FYI...took a look at Bama in the decade before Bryant and they were 50-48-10 so I am going to assume that Bama didn't do squat before the Bear and he hasn't been at the school in 30 years.

KP I sold all of the season tickets that I didn't use on Stub Hub....it's a very useful tool to get rid of games you either cannot or don't want to attend.

It also provides a useful indication of the demand for upcoming games and price as we know is a function of demand.

Here is a link to Tenn.'s schedule on Stub Hub...

    http://www.stubhub.com/tennessee-football-tickets/

As you might guess the three most popular games are Alabama, Fla and Oregon with the Bama game slightly more expensive than Florida.

    MCG,

Actually Bama did quite well prior to the decade before Bryant that you looked at..311-108-24 by a quick count, so I could be a bit off.

I hope we're both unbeaten before next years game, but looking at Bama's schedule, it sure isn't going to be easy. The game against PSU will be tough, but one that concerns me just as much is the game at Ark--I think the Hogs have a chance to be very good this year.

    Bryan,

Actually I didn't look that far back and it means about as much as the decade I listed because it was so long ago.

Even the Bear's accomplishments will soon fade as we all age....and the younger fans will begin to identify more with what our programs are in their own lifetime. There are probably some ole geezers out there still extolling the virtues of Red Grange, etc etc.

Right now Saban has Bama on a high plane and they head into the season with the kind of expectations that UF was faced with last season.

It adds pressure to the whole equation and makes it tougher I believe for a team like Bama to fulfill those expectations.

It can be done.....witness UF in basketball 07-08......but it's very rare to go back to back and with this schedule quirk I can see every SEC opponent will be giving the Tide their best shot and they will earn every accolade they receive this year.

Good luck.....I hope like you that both teams are unbeaten come Oct. 2nd and the game is what I think it will be in terms of advanced press.....hype.....etc.

Should be fun....and.....ultimately good for recruiting.

MCG--It's true that accomplishments will fade from many peoples memories, but, of course, it's also true that they'll solidly remain in other peoples memories. It depends on the person. Obviously, as far as the record books go, a win is a win--whether it was in 2009 or 1909, it means the same.

Right you are about repeating, as I think we've discussed on this board before. I don't know if KP or other Bama fans here would agree, but I think even winning the West is going to be very tough. I definitely feel we'll be in the race, but as I said I think Ark with Mallet can be very tough. I see no reason to think LSU won't be near the top, and watch Auburn, who started 5-0 last year, and had an excellent class this year.

    MCG,
The price on stub hub could go up for the Ala/Fl game because of the Florida fans buying them couldn't they? I mean we know that demand for the Auburn, Tenn, LSU game will be high as well.

There you go again. I care about playing Florida alot but I will have to live with a loss to Auburn everyday of the year. I wouldn't if we lose to Florida. We've been over all of this before.

And Auburn fans don't try to buy tickets for that game?

Ticket prices normally are driven upward by the visiting teams' fans. The home team already has their tickets. The visiting fans need to find the price at which home team fans are willing to part with their tickets.

My favorite personal story goes back to when Nebraska came to South Bend several years ago. The aggressive Nebraska fans convinced many spineless ND fans to relinquish their tickets. Through the luck of the draw in the alumni lottery, I had two tickets smack dab on the 50 yard line on the visitors' side, about halfway up. I refused to sell them to opposing fans no matter the offering price (rumored to be around $1,000 each). I gave them to two of my kids and sat elsewhere. I've never sold tickets to visiting fans and never will, but there is always someone whose loyalty has a price. That's why stub hub exists.

    Sid...true to a certain extent.

But I know in the state of Florida and I am pretty sure in the state of Alabama that there are many, many fans who don't have season tickets and they resort to buying individual games through services like Stub Hub.

In fact.....all of the games that I have sold on Stub Hub have been to Florida residents.

My sister and her family live in Fla, West Palm area. They say that you can get tickets outside the stadium for UF games pretty easy on game day. Just have to be patient, that they have rarely ever paid more than face value usually get a discount.

    Depends on the game Terry.

Once for a Tenn game my b-n-law wound up watching from an RV party parked outside the stadium because no one had tickets to sell.....FYI...it was Urban's first Tenn game as coach after UF had lost two years in a row to da bums.

But usually you can find tickets but sometimes they want $200.00 for the pair etc. and you just have to keep looking.

I would never use Stub Hub myself but it has been extremely effective in unloading tickets at a great price. Some people just want the assurance that they have a ticket before they get there and they are willing to pay the going rate for advance tickets.....the key word being advance.

That's why Stub Hub is ultimately a good predictor of just how much demand there is for a ticket....to any event.....not just CFB.

When my son was a walk-on at ND, 91-94, I went to every home game, more than half of them by myself. For many of the games the games I needed one or two tickets, which I bought outside the stadium on game day. I was patient and never paid more than face value. The only game I did not watch inside the stadium was the '93 FSU game. That day, the only tickets offered to me were $300 or more. I refused to pay those prices, so I watched on TV in my son's dorm.
