Everyone but BobW has signed in.

Anyone interested in a money league? I am not running one but I am a member of one. If you would like more info, let me know.

First race is over and everyone now has their feet wet. One of the Ryckman crew has a commanding lead. That means nothing though. There are three 13 week sections. The winner of our group last year was in last place at the end of the first 13 week section.

Each driver can only be used 9 out of 39 weeks. The key is to use the best drivers when they perform at their best. Due to accidents taking out good drivers, that is not always predictable. Who could have predicted the tire issue with Jimmie Johnson in the final laps of the race? Who could have predicted Kasey Kahne's accident in the last two laps that moved him from a top 5 position to 30th place?

It is a big crap shoot. Get the dice warm and ready to roll. The next race is Fontana, Ca on 21-Feb. 250 laps on a 2 mile track. Daytona was 200 laps on a 2.5 mile track. The drivers that were successful at Daytona should be successful at this track as well... barring being involved in any accidents.

Get your total set of drivers selected no later than 19-Feb @ 04:00 central. Qualifying will happen later on 19-Feb. You will then have until just before race time to select which of your drivers will be active during the race.

Standings as of the first race:

    PL....Pts....Wins...Top5.. Team
    1 ... 326 .... 01 .... 01 ... Boondock Muskies
    2 ... 260 .... 00 .... 01 ... Round Rock Racers
    2 ... 260 .... 00 .... 01 ... North Carolina Gators
    4 ... 256 .... 00 .... 01 ... PJ's Racers
    4 ... 256 .... 00 .... 01 ... Stu's Cats
    6 ... 250 .... 00 .... 00 ... IndyRacer
    7 ... 230 .... 00 .... 00 ... Sniper 1
    8 ... 210 .... 00 .... 00 ... RacerX
    9 ... 200 .... 00 .... 00 ... LoneStarMotors
    9 ... 200 .... 00 .... 00 ... ND_Fan77

Only 126 points separate 1st and 10th. As we saw in this first race, that amount can be won or lost in one large accident.

    Tom,

I'm curious. I had Clint Bowyer who I believed finished 4th, yet I'm shown as not having a driver in the top 5. Maybe a late decision moved him back.

Actually, Terry.... You're right except for the part of "next" to last. You were "tied" for last. The last 39 laps took you from contending for 1st to tied for last. That is the way it often works out. Then there are those weeks where your guys are not doing so well and a wreck takes out 10 to 12 drivers ahead of you and you are in great shape at the end of the race.

Sid, the standings I posted are not for individual drivers. The 5 members above you show one top 5 because their team score was in the top 5 of our 10 member group. It has nothing to do with how many drivers you have that finished in the top 5. For example, Boondock Muskies had both the 2nd and 5th place drivers but he only shows one top 5 finish because we have only run one race and it is based on team finish in points. Clint did finish 4th by the way.

So... are you saying that Chump is his middle name? Did you have flashbacks to your earlier years when you named him? I mean, that would make his initials CCR. I liked Creedence Clearwater Revival myself! 8) So, since you call him a chump, was he a... drum roll please... a Bad Moon Rising?

Thanks for the explanation, Tom. I now understand. I thought it was how the drivers finished.

CCR is one of my favorite bands of all time...

    John Fogerty is still rockin'.

Did anybody think it was a little too realistic that they had to deal with potholes like the rest of us?

When was the last time you hit a pothole while going 185 mph?

Never mind...don't wanna know about it.

Sorry that I have not been here that much. I am in Maynooth, Ireland and have not had good internet service at the hotel until now. Congrats to Doc for pulling out week 2 with the win. You kept me from taking first last week by 16 points. I hope to post the updates from this point forward.
