Gators close out with Chaz Green a 4 **** OL and end up with 28. This is the best class I remember the Gators getting.
Great class Bill, solid in every area. Consensus #1 class as far as I can tell. Interestingly even though USC has a small class, they are still in the top 10 and if you rank the schools by the Avg Star ranking they jump to #1. If they get Seantrel Henderson they will have had an incredible class given they way things ended with Pete and started with Lane Kiffin. What makes this class better than the #1 Class that Zook got with Chris Leake? Is this Meyers first #1 Class?
I see that Dorsey, who I thought was a Gator, signed with Michigan. What happened there? Also I see that UCLA has had a great signing day, got the DE that AJ was hoping would be a Husker plus some other top kids and has a big rise in the rankings. LA is now home of the 2 Slimiest Coaches I know of, Slick Rick and Lane Kiffin....a pox on both of them.
Terry, I think at least one of Meyer's classes was ranked number one, but I am not sure about as solid a number one as this one. The thing that is better about Meyer's classes than most any of our other coaches since I followed recruiting is how well he balances them. Dorsey and Florida parted company about a week or so ago. He was visiting FSU and USC the last two weekends and Florida removed the offer. Whether he moved on or we moved him on is a matter of conjecture. I expected he would go to FSU or USC, I don't know where the Michigan thing came from. I wish him well and am very happy with our class.
My... <t>Aggie son in law was livid about losing the Nelson kid to OU. Guy is a stud.<br/> USC continues to amaze me.</t>
With the slimy worm skipping town leaving Tennessee to find a new coach, I am extremely proud of the class pulled in on short notice by Dooley. 1 Florida 28 4 18 5 3.89 2,938 2 USFC 18 5 12 1 4.22 2,732 3 Texas 25 2 19 4 3.92 2,728 4 Auburn 32 3 13 13 3.50 2,485 5 Alabama 26 1 15 9 3.62 2,308 6 LSU 29 1 15 13 3.59 2,255 7 Oklahoma 29 0 16 13 3.55 2,213 8 UCLA 24 1 13 10 3.63 2,171 9 Tennessee 25 1 12 9 3.44 2,048 10 Florida State 24 2 8 14 3.50 1,953 11 California 19 2 7 10 3.58 1,875 12 Penn State 20 0 12 7 3.55 1,852 13 Oregon 23 1 10 9 3.39 1,851 14 Notre Dame 23 0 10 12 3.39 1,618 15 Texas A&M 23 0 9 13 3.35 1,587 16 Georgia 19 0 9 9 3.42 1,581 17 Ole Miss 25 0 8 16 3.28 1,554 18 Clemson 23 0 9 13 3.35 1,551 19 West Virginia 21 1 5 13 3.24 1,533 20 Michigan 27 0 6 20 3.19 1,479 21 Missouri 23 0 7 16 3.30 1,446 22 Virginia Tech 21 0 6 15 3.29 1,430 23 Nebraska 21 0 8 10 3.24 1,407 24 Miami 28 0 6 18 3.07 1,347 25 South Carolina 23 1 5 11 3.04 1,342
As well you should be Tom. Only time will tell, but I think there is a good chance that you actually upgraded by getting Dooley and Kiffen leaving town like he did. I think it's obvious that Kiffen can recruit, but I think he has other flaws that is best for Tennessee to be in California.
Buckeyes ended up with 18 signees. All that had verbeled ended up signing their letter of intent. While smaller in numbers than some recent classes, we met most of our needs. Several players on defense are capable of playing different positions. For the first time Tressel did not lock down the date of Ohio in recruiting. On a final note, I see Henderson did not sign his letter of intent at USC, awaiting more word on the possible USC sanctions, per his father?
As Don said Henderson hasn't signed his LOI and is waiting on a NCAA hearing on Feb 19 regarding the NCAA violations at USC. I wonder if it will really change his mind? I've read that Snoop Dog has promised his Dad a job in the L.A. Music Industry and that the family is going to move to L.A. So I'm betting that he'll still be a Trojan. I don't think that USC is going to get the death penalty, if they have to vacate wins that doesn't affect Henderson, they might lose scholarships, and that always hurts but they have so much high level talent that it won't matter all that much. NCAA no longer takes away TV from teams because it causes to many scheduling problems.
My favorite comment from CFN's take on yesterday's final results: "It all added up to a monster class that should keep the Gators in the national title hunt for the next several seasons." 8) http://cfn.scout.com/2/943978.html From CBS Sportsline: "Urban Meyer: A life-changing health problem. Rival recruiters running him into the ground. A revamped coaching staff. It is amazing that Florida has still been able to assemble the nation’s No. 1 class." http://dennis-dodd.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/6270202/19899187 Heck.....I think even I...MCG.....could recruit a top 10 class at Florida right now......
This Henderson kid looks like the world's biggest gangsta to me. With that ACT score maybe there is a reason he didn't sign a LOI.....
He's heading to play for the "wild boys".......a 12-21 wonderboy coach. Smart......very smart.......
Cincinnati a tough nut for Ohio State to crack. Interesting article. I hope the Irish with Kelly continue to be able to beat Ohio State for the top Cincy prospects!! Cincinnati Tough on Buckeyes Irish need to recruit Fla/Ga/Texas/West Coast, the Midwest and Jersey
By golly you're right. He must have wanted to stay in the pros. Since signing day is over.....and there is a lull before spring practice I suspect UF will hire a top notch D-Coordinator. Who wouldn't want to coach the defensive players Urban hauled in yesterday?
Apparently the guy who just quit for the Buffalo Bills!!! Prefers Buffalo to Gainesville and the Gators! I wonder why? Hey Jon Tenuta is available!! Seriously I wonder why UM didn't hire Dan McCarney in the first place.
