So earlier today ESPN got a rumor, and ran with it. They said that one of A&M's top D recruits LB Corey Nelson was going to switch his long time commit over to OU. That was unsubstantiated which is bad enough, but what was worse was seeing the absolute meltdown of "grown" men on the Aggie websites - bemoaning our "sorry" coaches, and anything else they could think of. Later in the day, Corey came out and reaffirmed his commitment to A&M, and things calmed down. The level to which "fans" allow the decisions of 17 and 18 year old kids to affect them astounds me. I would have been disappointed, but oh well, that's life. These people need to step back and understand that what THEY want doesn't really matter! Kids do crazy stuff... and with the pressure they are under during recruiting I'm sure it gets worse. To allow your mood to be altered by those decisions, much less your attitude toward coaches who have no control over it either is... Just pathetic...
If you want to see shear panic, go to the Blue Gold Illustrated BB and watch the Irish fans contemplate hara kiri on an hourly basis. There is actually a group on there now suggesting that Kelly's hire was a huge mistake. He hasn't even held a practice yet but some 17 year old switched his verbal commit elsewhere. I'm going to open a tampon concession there.
hahaha I agree. I really can't stand to even follow recruiting much anymore, at least in terms of the Irish. Everyone is an 'expert' and as George pointed out, there's plenty of midol moments going on for a guy who hasn't held a practice yet.
