Interesting article that is sort of a retrospective on the formation of the B12 and some of the stuff that went on behind the scenes.
To be fair Neb has replaced those partial qualifiers with JUCO's and the real reason for the decline of the Big Red is the coaching. NU will be great again when they have a great coach again. OU was 61-51 the decade before Stoops showed up. It takes a lot to kill a program of NU's stature, esp. one that won 3 NC's in 4 years a little over a decade ago. Wheter Callahan is the next great coach or not we'll find out starting this year. It's his 3rd year and that's when coaches are supposed to start showing that they can be great.

Texas always got its way in the formation of the Big 12, because theLHorns had leverage. They were very close to accepting an offer to join the Pac10 and make it the Pac12, along with Colorado. All of the schools in the Pac10 are upper tier academically, except sad-sack Arizona State. Texas and Colorado would have been a perfect fit academically; they're geographically closer to the California schools than Washington or Wazzoo and the offer is still open if they ever change their minds...

PS. The only other qualifiers for membership out here are BYU and Utah.

I agree that this is a critical year for BC. I would think that anything more than a 2 loss season for him will leave a bad taste in alot of peoples minds.

    JOCO,

I'm curious about your Avatar. Is the Leprechaun mooning all that don't believe in the Irish or Just gettin' into position when they play USC?
