Good article about today's haul by the Gators in the US Army game: http://www.maxpreps.com/news/pYvOW_1XEd6UswAcxJTdpg/florida-wins-big-at-army-all-american-game.htm It is already a phenomenal class and if some of the possibilities that are left opt for the Gators then all I can say is.....WOW! Team Rankings: http://cfn.scout.com/a.z?s=451&p=9&c=14&yr=2010
Looks like Bama is in the throne for good eh?.......the Gators are gonna play second fiddle? The kingdom is in serious jeopardy: Saturday's additions gave Florida the consensus No. 1 recruiting class, according to Rivals, ESPN and Scout. Getting both Powell and Floyd makes for quite the defensive class upfront. "I think it's scary for the rest of the SEC when you pair up Ronald Powell with Sharrif Floyd," Rivals recruiting analyst Mike Farrell said Saturday. "Powell can play so many different positions. He's going to start off at linebacker at Florida, but I think he's going to grow into a big, pass-rushing defensive end." Powell, who earned Player of the Game honors, spent time at tight end as well and caught a touchdown pass on a fourth-and-1 around the 30-yard line to put the West up 7-0 with 3:48 remaining in the first quarter.
Dave, Have you considered working for the UF public relations / marketing department. Or perhaps forming your own marketing / promotion business and selling your services to the Gators? You should be compensated for your 24/7 efforts to pump the Gator program ad nauseum.
Good job by Florida, especially with the Meyer "situation" for lack of a better term. It certainly has not appeared to affect their recruiting so far.
You know what Dave? All this throwing everything Gator into people's faces, never being able to admit we lost, not being gracious when we lose or to other people's wins I guess does accomplish something. It makes it very hard for us other Gators to have civil conversation with people!
It was an impressive haul for the Gators yesterday including the Defensive MVP. What did you guys think of that QB (Cole Marcoux) who is a 1* kid from the Bronx headed to Dartmouth? He won the slot in a reality contest. At 6'5' 230lbs and with the arm he showed yesterday I have to wonder why the major schools never noticed him. If the Hendrix kid bails on ND I wouldn't mind seeing if Kelly could convince him to eschew Dartmouth for ND.
Terry, I think he could well be worth a look. While I am a firm believer in that who gets the most average stars generally fare better, I also believe there are sleepers out there who are rated 1 - 3 stars who will end up being good players. Brandon James at Florida is one example. He was our punt and kickoff returner for four years and helped set up a lot of scores fo us. He also played on offense this year and was a contributor.
Other Gators? as In plural? Who besides you Bill? Who am I missing? OK!!, Who converted? Tom? Aquila? George? WENDY!!...forgot about her...but aftetr her trip to Lincoln, I'm sure she converted... Cased solved Bill, disregard my last.
Dave, let me tell you something to start this post. I am growing very weary of having difficulty talking to other people here because you are the catalyst for so much Gator irritation, for the lack of a better word. Let me just say that your attempt at an AJ spin doesn't work. AJ's real spin works very well for him. However you are not AJ and and your humor does not come across like his. If people take you to serious, you need to do a self evaluation and see what you can do about it. You need to do something because I am telling you that I am very weary of the image people have of the Gators largely because of you. And it is a negative image. Saying that I also will say that sometimes your posts are used as an excuse to dump on the Gators, and in reality it is an excuse not a reason. But take me serious, I am tired of it.
"sometimes your posts are used as an excuse to dump on the Gators, and in reality it is an excuse not a reason." Sometimes people just like to generalize.....they use selective memory, and they like to categorize and react with a knee jerk response. Otherwise as you say above sometimes responses are more calculated than that. Bill....other than the fact I posted an article about the team ranked #1 in recruiting who had an unusual Army Game with regard to 5 Star commits....which seems newsworthy to me....the only thing the least bit abrasive would be my somewhat mild attempt at AJ style....over-the-top enthusiasm for the class Fla is putting together. But....your comments are duly noted and I am resolved to becoming a boring, no comment type of poster.....and lurk more often than post.
George...it was an unusual day at the Army game for a school already doing well in recruiting this year. Now I hear Henderson from Mn. is a Gator lean which may or may not be true. If UF gets any more real 5 start types and keeps what they have committed this class will be pretty special. As a side note.....this is THE recruiting season and it will increasingly become a hot topic until signing day. But we'll talk about teams 2 thru 30 in recruiting from now on.
Well Dave I am personally glad you had second thoughts about lurking. But I am going to add to what I said. First what George said is absolutely correct. You don't need to keep saying how good we are. If you truly believe that, and I think you do, then let it speak for its self. You might also try to be a bit more gracious and not beat to death a subject or situation like how a player, Dunlap, might have affected the game. Notice Terry hasn't said a word about McCoy's injury. And I truly believe his injury affected Texas more than Dunlap affected ours. And I don't wish to discuss that with you. I think that you need to think when you want to say something, how it will affect others. In ending I want you to think back to when you lost your job how positively people reacted to your situation and think hw your words might inflame others thought process. I'm not the best at saying things in writing but I think you can understand what I am saying. In ending I will have to admit that I am also doing some soul searching as to how I react to some situations and while I might not call it lurking, maybe just learn to ignore some anti Gator rhetoric when it starts.
I think most were so anti-Detroit.....anti-Big Three they didn't have much sympathy here Bill.........blinded by the reality that first....I didn't work for the Big Three and second that Detroit was ensnared worse than than most cities by the Great Recession. I think it was Sid ( JIF?) who called me a lazy bum for accepting unemployment. Pretty insensitive and I haven't forgotten it.
Can I sue? Copyright infringement? Patent? Get your own material pal.... Dave, There's different levels of arrogance in my book...mine is the humorous loud mouth Marine type. Unless you stood on the "Yellow Footprints" as I have, your are in direct violation of Skybox personality copyright laws. This is your one and only warning.
Once a marine always a marine huh AJ? So they taught you that sense of humor in the Marines huh? You got those folks at the Army base in line yet?
Had to google yellow footprints. We didn't have them in the Navy, of course I never had to go through boot camp, they just handed me a chit to go the base uniform store and get the bars. Of course dental school was like a 4 year boot camp!
