Wow did I get a lesson in Auto Dealer crapola this past week. We're looking to get a new car for the wife, and our 98 Accord was on the block. The dealership offered us $3000.00 for it. The car had just turned 100000 miles the week before, which is low miles for an 8 year old car in this neighborhood. I didn't expect them to blow me away, but that offer was ridiculous.

I placed an add in Auto Trader last Saturday night, and had two offers within 18 HOURS. I ended up selling it for my asking price: $6000.00.

Just goes to show what a ripoff trading a vehicle can be...

You will normally do better if you can sell yourself and walk into the dealership and negotiate a good price for youself off the sticker( 10-15 %). Its not usually that easy to sell privately because you cant offer the buyer any kind of a warranty. jif
