One thing I'm not clear on - how do kp and Bryan determine who gets to be the good sport that accepts the win graciously and speaks well of the other team; and who has to be the asshole that crows non-stop for the next several months, hijacking threads with masturbatory references to his own team while continually denigrating the vanquished opponent? Or does one just volunteer for the second role?

BDR...are you going back three years ago....and still remaining there?

At the time there was a lot of doubt spewing forth about the underdog and the favorite let that be known in very direct ways......

    That was not forgotten easily.

So what MCG. You carry to many grudges from the past.

Congratulations Bama fans, you deserved this game.

Bill.....they were in the news for two years.....and in the next title game...

....they were top news in college football and I had opinions.....just like I have a few now about teams in the news.

One of which is the championship defense that Bama has......that's what it takes.

Well, I've sobered up and Alabama really did win the NC. I was hoping that McCoy could come back and play but anyone that thinks that Texas was so one-dimensional that the loss of one player meant the end of the game is badly mistaken. Alabama had to have a great defensive game to win this one. Whew. Roll Tide.

    Congratulations Kp.....ain't it great?

My take on the game.....as you know I don't mince words.....is that Texas had Alabama reeling both offensively and defensively before the MCcoy injury.......which seemed to take some life out of the Horn's defense as well. One reason for that as the game went on is that the kid replacement was clueless for two quarters and also giving the Tide easy TDs.....which is very difficult for a defense to play through.

McElroy?......well he obviously did have his career game vs. a tepid Fla defense. I thought he was less than average last night although with Texas so limited on offense he wasn't being asked to save the day.

That said....the combo of very tough defense and a physical running game is a great combo that Saban uses to perfection. And it won him and Alabama the national title..... which was well deserved.

McCoy doesn't block and McCoy doesn't tackle. The issues in this game went WAY beyond McCoy being out.

Texas pulled off all the trick plays/onside kicks and Alabama's fake punt exploded in their face.

The Texas defense played extremely well to keep UT in this game, even though many of the breaks seemed to be going their way.

It's hard to quantify but athletic contests, football especially, have a mojo... a vibe.. a momentum or tempo to them. This was a weird game in that Texas had all of the (whatever you want to call it) working for you and still didn't lead the game.

To add to the subject of McCoy going down... and I know some of you guys disagree with me here.. but that is exactly why you pull your starting QB when up by 3 scores.

Texas left him in some blowouts to pile up huge numbers trying to win the Heisman. Weis did it with Clausen. (not that we were ever up much). Meyer did it with Tebow.

It's stupid. It's one of the 'old school' things I'd like to see brought back.. You go all year and then 'football happens'...someone gets hurt and now your backup whose helmet fits him tighter than the sweat stained baseball cap he dons on the sideline has to come in and 'win' the game for you.

    That's on Mack Brown.

Either way... 2 great teams... I just feel for Alabama a bit because ESPN is whining about every non-call and you have a few idiotic fans out there (hi Dave) playing the 'yeah but they didn't beat McCoy card' or otherwise equally lame excuses for the Bama win.

Nothing backhanded here Kp.....it's my honest opinion and assessment.

You want sugar coated ******** I can give you that too. You would prefer I go gaga over McElroy's performance even though you know otherwise?

When I say well deserved.......and great defense......and champions....at least you know I mean it.

Corey...don't get me started on some of the other things that I'm trying hard to ignore.

Even you have to admit the flow of the game changed dramatically when McCoy went out. But that's the way it went this championship season and I give Bama full credit for taking advantage of the other team's weaknesses like a cold blooded assasin. It's not their business that Dunlap was reckless and irresponsible but they sure made Florida pay for it and the hit on McCoy was very legit and they sure made the kid pay afterwards.

They were ruthless and physical and I admire them for that intensity.

    Roll Tide.....and the SEC.

    Corey,
You know we had 2 100 rushers last night. So much for the Heisman curse. It's a good day in Alabama today. :D

    OH...Ok Kp....

Alabama is one of the greatest teams I have ever seen in college football on both sides of the ball. They would have destroyed Texas even if McCoy stayed in the game. They are better than any team I have seen this decade and without a doubt the most complete BCS champion there ever was and if Ingram didn't win the Heisman then McElroy surely would have.

    Feel better?

    LOL

They already done whipped your ass Dave. You're just another body in the road. Your compliments mean little to them at this point, but I am sure they'd mean slightly more to them than your critique.

    KP,

True story..stopped by my favorite coffee shop this morning to pick up a mornin Joe to kick the day off... they are nearly out of everything.

Bama fans had a snow day yesterday that sent them all home early (to start drinking)... the game went... well, you know... and then they all drank and partied the night away without a care in the world.

To wake up Friday hoping for another snow day that didn't come.. Instead, it's just cold and now they are hung over..

The gal at the shop said they did more business this morning than they have in the past month combined (they were literally out of to go coffee cups they were so busy)...

So y'all get to wake up to the cold world of snarky critique, no coffee to wake up and a wicked hang over...but you know what?

    You're #1 and they're not.

Congrats amigo. I hope your celebration carries on thru the weekend at least.

    Sweet Jesus, MCG!

You are an insufferable winner but and even worse loser. Those are not attributes the average sports fan aspires to.

    Corey,
Thank you. My wife just said to me that she is glad the football season is over and I told her I was kind of glad too. I get to enjoy being an avid fan of the National Champions for the next year. :D

George I don't pull punches and I don't KA and I don't spare my own team either.....hence AJ's torching bridges reference.

I think if you do all of those things above in reverse and incessantly it can be awfully boring.
