Well, the Yankees missed the extra point so you're only down 13-3. Torre wanted to play his bench but they're already playing
I'm liking this team, Jack. Present situation notwithstanding, this team has a very deep bench, a lot of role players and switch hitters, a real infusion of youth and a better bull pen and more speed than last year. I'd play this hand, waiting for mid summer when teams start looking to dump payroll and try to get a good starter. Dontrelle Willis?
Joe Morgan the AS* Hole made the statement of the century last nite. " Sox should have pulled away from Yanks last 2-3 weeks". Well..Yanks were on fire..and Sox hardly lost also..damn that Morgan is a dumb dumb.
8) No...no, not Dontrelle Willis. I know! How about Odalis Perez? Yes...yes...that's the ticket! The Yankees should trade for Odalis Perez!
So you think it would easier for the Sox if Matsui, Sheffield, Jeter, ARod, Giambi, Damon, and Posada were playing every day? Hell, the Yankees are even missing Bubba Crosby in the outfield! Bernie Williams was supposed to see spot duty, not be the backbone of the outfield. Melky, Bubba, and Kevin Thompson? Is this the outfield that started the season with 3 All-Stars? You know Thompson, jif. He's the guy that's been demoted to "A" ball twice in his career. He spent half of last season in AA ball. He's got 94 games of AAA ball in his career. And he'll head back to the minors as soon as the mighty Bubba Crosby comes off the DL. Yeah tell me the Sox are rueing the return of Bubba. Morgan was right on target.
http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/9482266 Power Rankings: Yanks keep truckin' despite missing wheels By Eric Mack Updated June 6 Let's play some hypothetical baseball. Take two 100-RBI men and a No. 3 starter from each of the best teams in baseball, replace them with spare parts from the system (or off the street) and see what you have. For the upstart Tigers, who we must remind you (and Scott Miller) didn't do so well when playing top competition last week, this removes Magglio Ordonez, Carlos Guillen and Jeremy Bonderman. The world champion White Sox: Say so long to Paul Konerko, Jim Thome and Freddy Garcia. Boston: Send David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez and Matt Clement packing. The Mets, try doing without Carlos Delgado, Carlos Beltran and Steve Trachsel. And St. Louis, a sick joke here, remove Albert Pujols (doh!), Scott Rolen and Jason Marquis. How close to the top would those teams be now? Close, maybe. In first place? Doubtful. Able to sustain even more sudden and temporary losses like multiple cases of the flu and bruised thumbs to their next three biggest stars? Not a chance. Now, perform this test on the Yankees with Hideki Matsui, Gary Sheffield and Carl Pavano out, and see what you have. You get a stay in first place in the AL Beast and the third-best record in baseball. Credit Hall of Fame manager Joe Torre for keeping it all together. Credit reigning AL MVP Alex Rodriguez for being May's player of the month. Credit Mike Mussina (8-1, 2.67) for working on perhaps his finest season at age 37. Credit Derek Jeter for working on his best season of a not-too-shabby career. Credit Jason Giambi for kicking the 'roids and returning to his own MVP self. Or credit The Boss, ew, for being able to afford it all. Whoever it is, just credit them, because the Yankees deserve it for what they've had to deal with, which is why we (grudgingly) give them the nod atop the CBS SportsLine.com Power Rankings this week. Sure, they could drop one to the Red Sox on Tuesday night and fall out of first. They could lose the next three in the series, too. But you won't bury them. We have already learned just how hard that is to do.
Could also be a pretty good adrenalin push here on the part of the double A yankees and the regulars that are still standing. Im wondering how deep into the season this can carry them? Should be interesting :!: :!:
I see the AL All-Stars will be mostly Yankee's/Red Sox....do the other teams fans not get ballots? :?: :?: :?:
Pauley pitched real well. See what I'm talking about with this Yankee team, Jack? They don't win this game last year. We may look back at these injuries as the time this collection of players became a team. Anyone see Rick?
Baseball is a "game of inches" as my dad used to say. Phillips made 2 game saving catches. Manny ..another 2 inches and Milkman couldnt reach the potential dinger. I believe Sox might have a keeper in Pauley. Now lets see what Lester can do. Love to see them get Hansen ready for closing and stretch Papelbon out so he can be a starter.
I saw that last catch on Sports Center really a great catch. I'm surprised that the Yankees are taking it to the Sox even given their injury situation.
8) Look me in thee eyes.... You are getting very sleepy... You vant to trade for Odalis Perez... Perez can solve all of your problems... You must have Perez... When you awake, you vill not remember this... You vill only remember Perez...
