    Thank you MT.................................

    Saturday, Irish Sports Daily’s Steve Wiltfong caught up with Te’o’s father, Brian, who confirmed that Manti would be returning to play football next season.

    “He will be taking the field for the Irish next season,” Brian Te'o said.

    This one had me concerned to say the least..........................

    that has nothing to do with kelly. he was coming back no matter what.

    Like a good many Mormon boys... if he really wanted to take that mission, he would have gone to BYU.

    Corey....

    <t>Glad you had that insight all along so next time let us in on it. I'm sure Coach kelly feels better now that we know the best young player in the program is in for the rebuild on defense.<br/>
    Lets also hope the new DB coach can retool the minds of the returning group and the new ones on the way as this guy has a job on his hands.</t>

    **one huge edit**

    You can believe what you want to believe.

    I stopped posting insight of substance long ago when called a bullshitter because Gator fans here on the web told me that someone I personally knew (and who coached at Florida) was lying...because he said things that SOS couldn't possibly tolerate (although he did at Duke and does at SCAR) and because he was somehow a bad coach that brought down UF baseball (although he's won everywhere he's been before and after).

    I stopped using the comings and goings of 19 year old boys as a measure of self-worth a long time ago... I'd suggest you do the same. You have no control over it. Only NDN seems to believe that they can will kids into a destiny that fits the dreams of some grown man they never met.

    There's something to what Bronco said earlier although I dont buy the 'you're a bad Mormon if you don't go to BYU.'

    If you ever stopped chucking kids under the bus long enough to pay attention to where I live and some of the things I say along the way.. you'll see the bouncing ball isn't that hard to follow.

    I could have told you weeks ago that our new DB coach would have left in Kelly offered...and that he fully expected Kelly to offer... and that they were confident and expected all returning starters to return barring academic or reslife issues.

    Or you could have asked... instead you made a snarky comment.. which is why I don't post anything of substance that I come across anymore.

    Corey...

    <t>Relax as you must have receieved some Old Spice for X-Mas. As a ND fan all I was saying was I'm relieved the young man is coming back as I don't buy into it being a given considering the chaos of the ND program and that sieve of a defense he lined up with all year. I'm betting Kelly is beyond excited to know he has a legit prospect on defense. <br/>
    As for throwing the players on defense under the bus here is a flash many of them didn't need to be ON the bus with what all Irish fans had to endure in recent years. You may not like it but it is what it is.<br/>

    Happy New Year !!</t>

    Im sure they will be so glad to know that they let you down by choosing ND.

    When a RB runs over 6 guys on the way to a 15 yard gain, that isn't talent... that's coaching.

    We had bad coaching, we don't have bad talent. Bad talent can't get to the ball. Bad talent isn't there to blow the tackle. Bad talent can't run across the field to still prevent the TD on a long play. The talent is there, the coaching was not..

    From what I've heard, and I assure you it is nothing as good as what George has probably heard, but from guys who are actually on staff now... there were some real communication issues on the previous staff. The DC seems to have mailed it in about half way through the season and long before the losing streak.

    Who knows. It's all 2nd hand. I wouldn't vouch for that.

    I'd suggest you stick to the NDN for 'scoops'.. That's where all the real cred is anyway :)

    ps
    classy move justifying tossing children who chose to play for your favorite team that they don't need to be on the bus.... because they didn't meet your standards.

    I'm sure it wasn't their fault that the DC basically quit on them BEFORE the losing streak because his scheme was getting torched... The other co-DC had recruited a 3-4 team only to see them instrument a 4-3 scheme and strict one at that..but as for the coDC.. I've heard good things about him, but he was stuck in a bad situation by the previous HC. He should have just been fired rather than sit thru the Bojangles routine that he was forced to endure. that's just 2nd hand too but it's what guys on our current staff are saying they took over..

    pps

    I got an ND hat, ND shirt and a Sox hat for Christmas.. and such a fantastic day with my son that he asked to keep everything that we both touched from the weekend as a souvenir.

    That's 1st hand. You can take that to the bank.

    Corey..

    <t>Great that you had a good X-Mas. That is a good thing.<br/>
    <br/>
    I could go on but IMO it's the old cannot see the forrest for the trees on the ND defense. That is fine as that is what sports is about watching and discussing. We just don't agree and never will here. If it were only me stating the obvious on the Irish defense I wouldn't waste time but I cannot count the number of people that post on Irish web sites that agree with me and are even more vocal about the mess we sent out each week. As for your NDN that is one I don't post on and see some lunacy there but no more than others. <br/>
    <br/>
    One thing we can agree on is I think we are on the right track to actually getting coaches in here that have a chance to build a defense. It will take an upgrade in talent and time to mesh.<br/>
    <br/>
    As stated before Happy New Year !!</t>

    We agree.

    I just want all of those in "Camp No Talent" to take a vow right now to not cheer for any kid other than MT....even in the pros.. If they make a great play, you gotta sit on your hands..

    Oh... I know... only then will it be coaching :p

    You do realize that you asked to be 'let in'...and I just 'let you in'...and then you chose to use the word of 'numerous internet posters on ND boards that aren't NDN'... over a guy who is on our staff now and spoke to our kids.

    His kids..

    Ever been to Florence, Alabama Larry?

    Since I was referenced I can tell you that Teo was not always a sure thing to come back, at least when he left campus to go home to Hawaii at break. I personally feel that kelly and a new staff may have played a role.

    By the end of the season John Tenuta was almost universally disliked by the entire team. He and Corwin Brown had virtually no communication the last six weeks of the year.

    George,

    I've heard, or it's been relayed, that tenuta quit on this team...

    I've heard that Brown is/was not to blame. Keeping Brown could involve a lot of previous staff drama though so it was easier to part ways and try to hire another recruiter.

    As for Manti not being a sure thing. That may well be true. All I can go by is what our current HC is selling to people when he sells them on the job.

    One of the most profound statements you have ever made Corey.

    So true about ND especially and now I am sure us Gator fans will sit idly by and watch some of these kids we thought were in the fold to be part of the "Gator Nation" decide incredulously that they just don't fit into that Nation after all. The road ahead to Gainesville could get a little rocky if my memory of Jan. 2002 serves me correctly.

    Teo's father Brian talks with my friend Carlo at least once a week. They have become friends. Carlo called me when Teo went home for break and said they would decide his return at that point.

    If by heathens you mean big boobed hotties then yes you are up against it.

    Like I said George, you'd have better info on that. I'm just going off what our current HC told a soon to be assistant coach as told by him. It wasn't a slam dunk, but they expected all returning starters back (barring grades and reslife)

    Kelly

    <r>here's a little more good news for Kelly and ND fans. Looks like BK will be bring his Strength and Conditioning coach with him. Suppose to be good. Lord knows ND is lacking in this area:<br/>
    <br/>
    <B><s></s>New Irish head coach Brian Kelly was not able to confirm that Paul Longo will be leaving Cincinnati to follow Kelly to South Bend, but all indications are that Longo, who has worked under Kelly since 2004, will continue to serve as Kelly’s strength and conditioning coach at Notre Dame.<e></e></B></r>
