Do they make Corn Liquor in Nebraska? I know they couldn't call it Bourbon, but the raw ingredients are in plentiful supply.

Neb Corn Liquor vs Tequilla (no doubt a Gran Patron Tequilla Platinum).

I'm hoping to, AJ, but I'll be in Tucson from the 17th to the 21st, then we have the outlaws in for Christmas, followed by a New Year's Eve get together with friends. Plus, I have that year-end thing at work. It's great having Arizona back in the bowl scene again, but I'd sure like it if Coach Stoops would start scheduling one of the more convenient New Year's bowls.

Terry - bourbon doesn't have to be made in Kentucky to be called bourbon. It just has to meet the following requirements - made in the United States, at least 51% and no more than 79% Indian corn, distilled at 80-160 proof, and aged in an oak cask charred on the inside.

Two of the best bourbons I've ever had - and still have - are the 16 yr and 20 yr AH Hirsch bourbons that were distilled by Michter's in PA in the 70's.

I'm limited in my overall Bourbon tasting, but I haven't had one that tops Hirsch.

learn something new all the time. I always thought that by law you couldn't call it Bourbon unless it was bottled in Kentucky. I heard that was why Jack Daniels is not called Bourbon, instead "Tennessee Whiskey".

A famous whiskey/bourbon maker has a distillery in Indiana, across the river from Cincinnati/Kentucky. I can't recall the name.

Terry - Jack Daniels undergoes charcoal filtration prior to being barrel aged. That's what separates it from bourbon.

Sid - I had to look it up, but I found Lawrenceburg Distillers, which makes Cougar bourbon, an export-only brand owned by Fosters that's marketed in Australia and New Zealand. Lawrenceburg also also produces Seagram's Crown 7.

Nice research, Rick. It's Seagram's that I was thinking of. It's been well over 10 years since I've been down that way, so I had trouble remembering the name.

You're absolutely right. 7 and 7 used to be one of my favorites in my earlier years. Did most of my drinking at home though. Usually happened during poker games.
