No way the Gators come back from this one, we were handed a can of Kick Ass. So I will join the chorus of Roll Tide Roll for the BCS Championship. Go SEC and make it four in a row. Sorry Terry, I'm rooting for Texas to make it to the game but I have to root for my conference to win it again. It's been a great run by these Gators that I will treasure for a long time, that is after I recover from tonight. On to the Sugar Bowl.
Let's face, the best part of this game was the halftime when the young lady dusted the guy doing the Gator chomp in the football throwing contest. It looked like the best matchup for a Gator since they drew the second best team in the Big 12 South in the NC game.
It was indeed an incredible run by Tebow & Co. I think he arrived in Gainesville in a perfect storm of the right coach and a system that could not have suited his talents better. Congratulations to you, Bill and MCG, on a great run.
Thanks AQUILA, I feel the same way about this team. We came up short tonight against a better team. However they have given us many thrills though they years and I have no doubt we will be back in that game in the not to distant future.
Bill, As you stated up front it was a great run by the Gators and Tim Tebow. I can remember Archie Griffin's last home game against Michigan. Great players and teams should be cherished and remembered. They do not come around all that often. Don
Thanks Bill. It was just one of those nights for Bama where it seemed most things went their way. Helluva game for Gmac, Mark Ingram and some others. Hats off to the Gators, too, for a great run. What can you say about Tim Tebow--a Heisman, a couple NC's, etc. On to the bowls--hopefully a nice run for the SEC. RTR
Don and Bryan. I agree about Tebow and this group. A lot of Gator fans aren't ready to feel that way right now and you no doubt know I'm disappointed. However it's been a great run where the Gators won 2 NC's and set a record for our longest winning streak ever. Tim Tebow will join, probably even surpass, Spurrier, Wuerffel and Emmitt Smith in Gator lore. I hope he goes out a winner in our bowl game.
Man, I don't see it. Bama looks all day tough to me. Based on what I watched yesterday I think Bama stomps a mudhole through the Horns and then walks it dry.
Usually, hindsight puts all things in the proper perspective. I wish I could be feeling the hurt today that the Florida fans are feeling if it meant that my team had won two national championships in the past 4 years, that our overall record in that time span had been incredible, and that our senior QB would go down as one of the greatest ever to play the game. Hindsight will clarify these facts. Instead, the hurt that ND fans are feeling is on the far opposite end of the spectrum. Hindsight doesn't help in our case. Congratulations, Florida fans. You have a program to be very proud of.
Anyone who watched Alabama almost lose to Auburn last week might have thought they didn't have much of a chance yesterday, but they won. I also think Bama played their game of the year yesterday in their biggest one so far. However they have one game even bigger left. I will root for them and expect they will win. However..........I think it is way to early to count Texas out. Southern Cal fans kind of made that mistake a few years ago.
Saban gives the team 24 hours to enjoy the win, then it is on to preparation for the next game. I am pretty sure he is not going to even consider whether Alabama is favored or not.
Sums it up pretty well Sid. Thanks to you and others with similar words of condolence. A hearty congratulations to Alabama....a worthy SEC Champion.
Alabama should be big favorites to win the game. They have as good if not better defense than Nebraska and they actually have an offense to go along with it. I don't expect the Longhorns to do any better than UF did against that Alabama team. We have an excellent team, Bama has a great team. I was hard on McElroy but he showed me yesterday that he has what it takes to get the job done, he showed me a lot of heart and moxy as well. Also, while I love Mack Brown, and he's one of the best coaches around...he is not in Saban's league as a HC. That will be an edge that Texas can't overcome.
