My biggest concern with Kelly is whether or not he will be committed to bringing a championship defense to ND. This year he replaced 10 starters on his defense so maybe this year isn't fair evaluation of the emphasis he places on it. In fact he has former ND QB Demetrius Jones as a LB.
Tie game at 38 with 5:46 to go. Terry, I don't think I would have that concern. Kelly has brought this program from nowhere to where they are. More often than not when that situation handles it's the offense that carries things first and defense comes later. That's the way it happened with Spurrier, Bowden and others, win shootouts first build defense later. Also at Notre Dame Kelly would not have trouble getting the right defensive coaches or recruiting defensive players. Like I read somewhere else today if you get the right coach then some programs recruit themselves.
He is something else Oh wow td Cincy, the extra point would give them the lead. Gilyard is the reason they won. That kickoff retrun when they were behind 31 - 10 just before halftime changed the game. He set them up with good field position all day.
One whale of a game to watch@ Cincy had to have a little luck to remain undefeated and the Panthers complied with that missed extra point. Looks like Boise State and TCU. Who will the Bearcats Play? Don
In the first half, I was looking at the people that picked Pitt in the contest as being GENIUS! Cicni just pulled the rug out. Pitt dominated most of the game and deserved to win but Cinci pulled it out. Congrats to both teams for giving us one of the most exciting games of the season.
Terry........... <t>I hope you are right but it does concern me sitting there last night watching the Clemson game the same reamark quoting Kelly as something to the effect he will be open to ND overtures. I take that as we have made no contact. Maybe that is because of their big game with Pitt but it does concern me.<br/> I hope we are not in the turned down by Stoops, Meyer mode so we are going down the list seven days from removing CW. Weiss even admitted he knew he was out prior to the UConn game and I stated early he knew it was over after Navy embarrassed us.<br/> The saga continues..................................................</t>
