Some of the stuff I've heard warrants replacement... some of it seems like a whole bunch of '*sniff sniff...he yelled at me and called me a motherf*****'.

    Jeeeez, sack up...

There are some items though that seem pretty cut and dry.. Sounds like he has too much 'old school' influence.. Mangi needs to go to PC training before he makes another run at a HC gig.

Corey, I also have mixed feelings about the situation, but Lou Holtz on ESPN last night said something that makes sense, especially coming from him:
It sounds like Mangino did the latter on a regular basis.

    Sid,

I'm with you and Lou on this one. That being said, one of his mentors (Woody Hayes) took the rougher approach on more than a few occasions I am sure.

It's not right or wrong to me, it just is what it is. We've changed as a society and harsh, brutal, direct, criticism (especially that which involves name calling) is no longer acceptable at most places..

No coach who ever called me a name made me want to cry. It made me want to do the drill, or play or whatever perfectly the next time... many kids today would stare down the coach after perfecting the drill.. When I played, you sure might have been thinking 'take that you sack of sh*t' but you kept your eyes straight and got back in line to wait your next turn..

Like I've said... we've changed. I'm not sure it's for the best but it's there.
