    <t>Well I'm just tickled that someone finds this Clausen sucker punch incident funny. Personally, not much humor in it for me.</t>

    Tim,

    Finding humor in things like this is natural. Now, if Jimmy had suffered a serious injury, I would agree with your statement. But he didn't.

    For Jimmy to not press charges makes me think there was a little "mutual combat" here.

    Looks like Bob Stoops will be the guy....at least according to this source! :roll:

    Stoops to ND

    I wonder if the reporters at his post game press conference today will ask him about Notre Dame?

    Where's that link to the story that Tiger Woods has agreed to be the new ND coach and his wife, a Gator fan is furious?

    Last night, after Cincinnati had a somewhat lackluster showing against Illinois, a poster on Irish Illustrated said that Kelley was just distracted because he was concentrating on the Notre Dame job. This afternoon, after OK routed OK St I saw on UHND that Stoops was ultra focused because he was using this game to audition for the ND job.

    I love ND fans.

    Herbie says no way on Stoops, but most posters who claim inside information say that Stoops will be the guy. Of course Herbie was the guy who called Les Miles to UM as a lead pipe cinch. :)

    alright..f*ck it, i'm going to fire up the black helicopter....

    Has anyone noticed that Buckeye boys seem to want 2 things:

    -Kelly the hell OUT at Cincinnati
    -Stoops to NEVER go to ND.

    As to what herbie said last night... (Honestly, the talking VW is more reliable) he said that he spoke with Stoops and that neither he, nor his agent, had been contacted.. Now as we covered on this board before, what the hell else are these guys going to say? They are in breech of contract?

    Now I'm not saying Stoops is the guy. I don't know. I don't think the process is necessarily 'there' yet. I'm just saying..anyone who rules out any candidate at this time (aside from previous coaches, registered sex offenders and Jim Harbaugh) clearly has an agenda and is talking out of there ass.

    (Sidenote: I was kidding about Harbaugh.. I rule out all 'Michigan men' :) )

    I worked a baseball camp during the fall. A guy there with 'some' ND ties (and that's the best you're getting out of me) said that he thought Charlie would fail and that whoever the next candidate would be, would be a person of stature and high profile. That the new AD would most likely put a blank check and a pen in front of that person...

    He spoke well of our AD and said he seemed to be a person who cared about being best, and doing so while remaining right.. We'll see. I laughed at him about Charlie failing.. I'm listening now.

    Bill,

    the Urban Liar thing need not be rehashed. We've had this debate before. You Gator fans won't believe them. To accept that you guys are right and that Urban didn't lie to these kids, we have to accept as ND fans that the guy who runs one of the best recruiting sites anywhere (regardless of affiliation) and who has proven time and time again to be credible (even when it means he loses the 'scoop' to keep his word to a kid) is lying in this instance...and only about Urban Meyer.. we just won't agree. Why bother?

    Man the Stoops rumors are running hot and wild tonight. If he does actually come to ND, I think we might finally come out of the defensive wilderness. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't bring his brother Mark off of the AZ staff to ND as the DCoord.

    If he comes it's going to cost ND a boat load of money and the salaries for assistants are going to be higher than what Tenn is paying their bunch I'll bet.

    Ticket prices going up boys!!

    Just got back in El Paso after spending T-Day with Brian in Phoenix. At first I wasn't believing any of the Stoops rumors and I'm STILL 95% sure he is not coming to SB but who knows. There definitely are some good sources saying the reports are true. <br/>
    <br/>
    I still think the best guy for the job is Brian Kelly. <E>:)</E> <E>8)</E></r>

    Tim.....

    <t>Agree and why would he leave OU? All kinds of talent returning and the top rated recruiting class currently by Rivals. I would be shocked to see him leave OU.<br/>
    <br/>
    I hope Kelly is the guy and it gets done this week.<br/>
    <br/>
    On another note what is up with Navy Saturday losing to the Hawaii thugs?</t>

    like you say, the key here is getting this done right and FAST. The only group that stands to gain if this thing is prolonged is the media who would love to turn this into a 3 ring circus again. <br/>
    <br/>
    One other reason I think Kelly would be the right choice is that if he does come and turns thing around, he's young enough to be around for a while. <br/>
    <br/>
    <B><s></s>Someone is going to hire Kelly away from UC this year<e></e></B>. Hopefully Swarbrick is as smart as he is suppose to be and gets over to Cincy as soon as he lets CW go. I don't care what UC offers Kelly, the only reason he would not take the ND job is if he feels like he doesn't want the heat of being in the the ND coaching seat. I wouldn't blame him for that.</r>

    I don't know where Kelly would go this year if he isn't hired at ND. I don't think there are any jobs coming open that are better than the job he already has.

    UVA is open now, but while they do have better facilites than UC, I'm not sure it's a better job. Same thing for Louisville, better facilities but not necessarily a better job.

    Just keep your mitts off Harbaugh just in case the RR era does not end up as well as hoped or if the Lions are looking for a new coach in a few years. Since H is a "Michigan man", my hope is your administration will follow Corey's advice and stay away. Glad that Don Canham did not have an "Ohio State man" prohibition when he hired Bo.

    Seriously, the two coaches that worry me are Stoops and Harbaugh. Weis did a great job recruiting and with the talent he acquired, I suspect ND's new coach will be walking into a situation similar to what Holtz walked into when he inherited some of talented but underdeveloped players that Faust recruited.

    Stoops track record confirms he would do very well at ND. Harbaugh is not a lock at success as Stoops would be but if you look at his family history in coaching, his college and pro career of maximizing the most of his natural talent, the success he has had at San Diego and Stanford, his young age, and the edge he has to his personality ( not a bad quality for a head coach), his coming to ND would not be welcome news to moi.

    My guess is that Kelly and Patterson would do well at ND but they do not cause the Oh ****! siren to ring in my nead as the names Stoops and Harbaugh do,

    Bobda do you think any of the things that Harbaugh said about Michigan back when he first took the Stanford job hurts him with the Admin and powers that be?

    We're already quite possibly the most hated team in America. Adding Harbaugh to the mix would almost be worth it just to clearly push us over the top in that regard.

    He's a Michigan man. That is his beef with the school now is that they aren't what he deems acceptable as an institution. He's one of Bo's boys. That would almost be worth the price of admission. If you think Charlie was hated, you have no idea how much Harbaugh would be hated..and he'd enjoy every last minute of it, nor would it wear on him. That might be fun to watch.

    That being said, I'll get behind whoever we hire.

    I think that Stoops is going to get a blank check offer though.
