It looks like the health care bill is all but passed. Thanks to the stolen election of Al Frankin and the caving in of Joe Lieberman, it's going to pass the Senate. Current polls show that a majority of Americans don't like this bill. Such is the difference between a republic and a democracy.
Don't forget the $300 million bribe to Mary Landrieu of Lousiana which she openly acknowledges. That is taxpayer money, of course. When will we collectively have enough and take back our country?
Gip, There's more dead people than living.. Chicago Dems can manufacture a lot of votes... I tend to agree with you. What I am worried about is the very situation I've spent years posting about here on the Box regarding California.. The Dems took control either thru legitimate or illegal means(depending on which state election/office you look at), then they redistricted, flooded areas and changed demographics...and have never given power back in CA. When people believe they can no longer change who holds office, they will concentrate on policy.. and policy can be bought if you're willing to spend enough. I just wish I could be as optimistic about the upcoming 'change' in American politics...I'm afraid the Obamachine will just continue to grow.
Gipper, the bill in its current form will never pass. Nebraska Democrat Ben Nelson, Mary Landrieu, Louisiana, Blanche Lincoln, Arkansas and Lieberman said they may not support the final bill in its current form. I think Ben Nelson may insist on the same abortion restrictions that are in the House version. There is worry by some Dems that the public option will become a costly entitlement program and other requirements could cripple businesses. I have a Constitutional question. How can congress force anyone to buy something for merely existing? This is not a situation where one has to buy autoinsurance, for example, since this is related to a choice to drive an automobile. I think this was also brought up by Orrin Hatch. If the final version contains a penalty for not buying insurance, I believe the Supreme Court would strike that provision if it is challenged.
Probably not as long as we will have to pay for the bail outs... All of this is because of people that feel entitled. I am tired of it.
So here's my question, why does Mary Landrieu get 300 mil. for La. put in the bill if she ultimately will vote against it? Seems like she already sold her soul on this one. So will their cap and trade legislation. They don't seem to care. Congress already forces us to pay for late in life health care in our Medicare contributions. (which they now plan to plunder to fund health care for others) Look at it this way, one more Obama appointment and we might as well forget about the Constitution.
Gip, I see a distinction here. My Medicare is linked to my social security. When I see a doctor, I give my social security number for identification. My social security payments are linked to my recorded past income deductions. If you have a civil service job, you don't make these payments. My issue is with the criminal penalty for not buying health insurance. I don't think Bill Gates should be forced to buy health insurance. As far as Obama is concerned, I am grateful that Roberts and Alito made it before this misanthrope got elected.
