This in no way is meant as a dispersion cast upon Jimmy. However, Heath Schuler, in practice would kneel down on his right knee and throw the ball from his own 30 yard line to the opposite goal line... 70 yards. It takes more than arm strength to make it in the NFL. 8)
Terry, there was an article in our local paper that confirmed Eifert has a bulging disc in his back, and that surgery likely could end his career. He will go on a lifelong rehabilitation regimen, which, according to the article, will enable him to play in the future.
I had high hopes for Tyler, he seemed to have an incredible upside and could have played either TE or DE or for some teams even been a very big WR. Having to play with a disc problem in your back so young to me seems like even with rehab he might not have the same career he might have had if he were fully healthy.
Here's a link to PCC's season stats. It only Nate playng in 5 games so he might have been hurt. http://www.pasadena.edu/athletics/football/TEAMCUME_025.HTM

Mistakes, mistakes, and more mistakes. As easy as it is to point the finger at Charlie, it's hard to blame him for Jimmy's fumble, Parris' fumble, Mike Floyd's failure to know what play was being run at the goal line, and Nick missing two FGs (one was a gimme). Floyd's drop at midfield with under 2:00 left didn't help either, but it didn't cost us the game. Charlie may have lost his job with this loss. I guess in the best case scenario we're looking at the Gator Bowl now, right?
There a so many mistakes that it's impossible to list all of them. However, one set is just inexcusable. The first 3 times Navy was in 3rd and short, we lined up with no one over the center. All three times the center fired out and tjhe QB gained 3 yds. easily. No excuse for that.....none. Whoever is responsible for running that defense in that situation, doesn't know **** about football and should be fired. There was an artilce somewhere earlier in the year where JC was quoted as saying that if Charlie is fired it won't be because of him. Wrong Jimmy. That fumble on the goal line was a killer and just bad football. After missing on 12 straight fade patterns, how abount a slant or buttonhook?
Very disheartening loss no doubt. Hat's off to those midshipmen they played tough and they played smart. I don't want to take anything away from them, they are an excellent football team. We had our chances as BobW noted above. Fumbling on the goal line, Int on the goal line when when Michael Floyd doesn't know the play (apparently), 2 missed FG's all contributed to the loss. But what was toughest for me to watch was how they just ate up our defense. Playing the option is all about assignment football, on a lot of those plays when Dobbs came down the line it looked to me that there was only 1 guy to cover both him and the pitchman, when he took Dobbs the pitchman was wide open and vice versa. Also it seemed to me that they forgot the basic triple option play entirely, the FB dive. Play starts with middle of the defense taking away the dive, the next is to force the pitch or tackle the QB, and the 3rd is to have a guy right on the pitchman. We did a better job against the Navy last year on defense and the team was younger. I don't know if this is it for Charlie, beat Pitt, UConn and Stanford and I doubt if he's fired but right now I don't see us beating all three. Pitt and Stanford seem to be peaking at the end of the year I could easily see us finishing 1-3 for a 7-5 record and I couldn't support Charlie being brought back with that type of record. Jimmy put up some incredible numbers today, but the missed opportunities were huge. That drop by Floyd at the end was huge, if he makes that catch we most likely go to OT. Floyd had a great day for a guy who's been out for awhile, but he did show some rust. Both he and Tate finished with over 100 yds. That catch by Ragone was great as well, and Theo Riddick again showed me some stuff, I'm not sure why he didn't get the majority of the snaps, he's so much quicker to the hole than Robert Hughes. Oh well...on to Pittsburgh!
Jimmy's fumble was bad of course, but CW has been his own worst enemy. In 5 years he never once built a good defense. He swung and missed when he hired Minter (which I suspect that he did because Lou vouched for him), then when he decided to get rid of Minter, did he go out and find the best college defensive coach available? Nope he went to his "Tree" and hired a Jets DB coach who has limited experience as a coach and zero experience as a DCoord...now Corwin is a dynamic recruiter, but as far as I can tell he's not much of a DB coach which was his expertise, ok so now he's going to the well again for a boost to the defense and hires the Tenuata no doubt because his defenses played well against Charlie, how about again hiring the best guy out there not some guy who had your number. That is what has hurt Charlie his inabilty to put together a good staff. He hung on to Latina too long, he should have recognized 2 years ago that he wasn't getting it done. Verducci and Hart might be good hires but our OL still isn't that good and neither is our DL. Maybe 1 year isn't fair to evaluate them fully though.
I'm completely over Weis. And this job is completely over his head. We are on the express to the Dec. 18 Tidy Bowl again. And take Tenuta and Brown with you because that defense is horrific.
Doc, it wasnt' just the fumble. It was incomplete lob, incomplete fade over and over and over again in the red zone. How about a quick slant? How about a hook? What's the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
I don't disagree with you but you seemed to be blaming Jimmy? Jimmy doesn't call the plays. Weis clearly is in love with the fade, probably not a bad thing if Floyd hadn't been injured and missed so many games. But I just can't blame Jimmy.
The Bill of Indictment. In the past 3 years, CW has, at home: 1) Been blown by a 5-7 GT team; 2) Lost to Navy for the first time in 44 years; 3) Lost decisively to AFA; 4) Nearly lost to a horrific SDSU team; 5) Lost to a horrific Syr team; and 6) Lost again to Navy the week after they lost to TEMPLE.
Our first score against the vaunted Navy defense was with about 5 min. to go in the 3rd quarter. How with receivers like Tate and Floyd do we not get into the end zone? OK who's the prime suspect, the tight end?
Who's supposed to make sure the players are ready to play? I guess it's Jimmy Clausens fault. I guess it was Jimmy Clausens fault his 2 Sr. OT who outweighed their Navy counter parts by 60lbs couldn't block them on the last series where he got the safety. That darn Jimmy Clausen also went away from the running game, and if he was a better passer then Parris would have never fumbled the damn ball on the opening series. Heck I'll bet a lot of people thought that INT he threw was a timing pattern that he threw perfectly to where Floyd would be when he made his cut, but they'd be wrong just another stupid throw, who does those timing patterns they always go wrong. **** and I was worried Jimmy Clausen would go Pro, now I know I should be glad ...hell he got Charlie Weis Fired...I wonder if any pro coach would be interested in a QB who got his last coach fired.
