He also said something about Tyler Eifert having a problem that if he had surgery it would be a career ending surgery so he is going on a rehab program instead. I don't remember what happened to him?

I don't know the guy at PCC. It's some asian dude named Kook or Kuuk or something like that... I know other people who coach against them, I can ask around if you really wanna know.

Re: Tate. I look at this kind of writing with a grain of salt. Perhaps he was taunting. Perhaps not. I saw what they saw and didn't like it, but until they throw a flag, I won't assume anything, unlike the writers. There are different ways to "trash talk" on the field. Some are more innocuous than others and do not amount to taunting. Jerome Bettis comes to mind as a prime example of a guy who did a lot of trash talking and never had a flag thrown on him for it.

I would suggest that the writers would do well to direct their ire at Eric Olsen, a team co-captain, who drew two unsportsmanlike penalties in the first half. That is completely unacceptable drive-killing behavior and cannot be tolerated.

I would posit that no one on our team talks more trash than Jimmy Clausen. It's not even close.

How many times does the camera catch him taunting the other bench or coaching staff after an ND TD. That guy runs game all day long.

<t>It's pretty obvious to me that Priester doesn't like CW and will take every chance to trash him. If you read the article you can see he laying the blame for Tates' trash talking at Charlies's feet. The isn't the first no will it be the last time it takes a swipe at CW.</t>

Corey see what you can find out about Montana. He was supposed to go there for a semester so he could get on the field and play some QB. But I'm not seeing that he's even the starter.

One of the editors of Blue-Gold Illustrated wrote an article today encouraging Jimmy Clausen to leave for the NFL after this season. he makes a strong argument that it is the only smart thing to do.

He checked with a couple of scouts who have Clausen rated either 1st or second among QBs in this draft, the other being Locker from Washington.

Every player has to make the decision to go pro based on his own set of circumstances. Peyton Manning stayed. I admire him for that. However, Peyton's family was well off and he had an easy decision. There are kids out there that don't have it so good. Some of them need to go pro to help out a poverty stricken family. I have no problem with those kids making the opposite decision.

I'm sure that the Clausen family is not poverty stricken. They are not billionaires either. Jimmy has to weigh the options and make his own choice. No fan or family member should force their opinion on him. Not saying that anyone is... just that they shouldn't.

I wonder what Casey and Rick are doing these days?

BTW, Tom Lemming has reported that Tommy Rees is a possible early entry candidate. He was not going to be one by personal choice, but I wonder if Charlie is in his ear right now about coming in early? Even if Jimmy is there for Spring, you need a certain number of QB's just to run all the drills without wearing out 1 guy. Rees coming in, along with Montana coming back give the Irish 2 guys to help run the drills, and if Jimmy doesn't come back then it would be Rees, Montana, and Goodman no doubt to play QB for the Spring.

But I don't blame any kid who wants to stay and go through that last semester of HS, go to the proms hang out with his buddies and all that stuff rather than get a head start on college.

As far as Jimmy's decision, I do think that the Clausens are OK financially and don't need Jimmy's pro earnings, but I'm sure that one of the factors is where he will go in the draft, if he's told he'll be a certain first rounder then it's hard to come back, if he's told he'll be a high first rounder it's even harder. What has happened to Sam Bradford will weigh heavily on any player who has the opportunity to be a high first rounder.

<r>Hey! The Rees kid may come early? YES!! Keep talkin to him Charlie. I'm sure the idea of possibly starting at QB his first year might make him think about changing his mind a little. <E>8)</E></r>

Understood. Has anyone taken the time to analyze the 2010 crop of potential NFL QB draftees? Just curious.

According to BGI, at this time, Clausen is a sure first rounder and no less than the #2 QB behind Jake Locker.

<t>I guess I have mixed feelings about Clausen leaving for the NFL. The ND fan in me says "Come on Jimmy, stick around for your senior year and break every ND passing record there is". But if he were my son I'd have to tell him to do what is in his heart. I'd also remind him of of the Bradford injury. If his true target is the NFL and he is being projected as a 1st rounder, he needs to go.</t>

Sid this is regarding your comment (which I agree with) re Eric Olsens 2 personal fouls against WSU.

    Mel Kiper on Clausen's future....

"The NFL people that I've spoken to about him like him. He's improved a lot over the last year. The improvement has been so significant that's what stands out. Despite the turf toe injury and playing without Michael Floyd. He's dealt with all that and he's still performed exceptionally well. He doesn't have Matthew Stafford's arm, but he's still got a good one. He's a tough, gritty competitor. Playing for Charlie Weis helps him. He's the 9th highest rated player on the draft board right now. If I had a gun to my head right now, I'd say he's coming out and be an early to mid first round choice. He'll be off the board by pick No. 15 and could go in the top 10."

Most NFL mock drafts (I know, I know) that I've seen have Clausen going in the top 10-12. One had him going #2.

I just heard on the evening news here that in attendance at the ND - Navy game this week will be Virginia Governor-Elect and ND alum Bob McDonnell.

One more look at the top plays from the Wash State game. The one of Ragone running down the Wazzu corner from behind is amazing. The thing I just noticed is Ragone blasting by the kicker Nick Tausch. #40....come on Nick get in shape!! :)

Man, was Ragone motoring......with Rudolph close behind! Very impressive!

I did not recall where Clausen was standing when he threw the ball. He was on our 43, and Tate caught the ball about 4-5 yards into the end zone. That's over 60 yards in the air! Based on that visual proof, anyone who questions Clausen's arm strength is full of caca.
