They really don't give any player the over all #1 or have a #1 through #50 in some order that reflects the players overall ranking. They stick to groups by position. Here are the QB rankings. 1. John Elway 2. Dan Marino 3. Joe Montana 4. Peyton Manning 5. Pat Haden 6. Jeff George 7. Vince Young They have a category called "All Purpose" which they put Reggie Bush into and I could sort of see that, but they also put Jerome Bettis in that category and I don't get that at all. Usually all purpose is the guy who plays WR/QB but not projected as QB in college/ RB who is also likely to play DB in college, that sort of thing. Bettis was a RB/FB nuttin' else. Top 50
That is a good question. Next question is was Bo Jackson a Parade All-American? He wouldn't be the first kid to have an incredible college/pro career who was not a Parade AA. In fact you probably never ever heard of the greatest HS RB who ever lived. Ken Hall of Sugarland Texas. Only thing that allowed some of his records to be broken was they played more games. Never did dip after HS.
that is a great question. From the stories in this region, the guy was always a legend.. maybe he wasn't a Parade AA though?
Are these guys being ranked in retrospect or were they that highly regarded in HS? For example, from what I've heard , Joe Montana was not a phenom in high school.
Good question George.. Im not sure. I do know that, to this day, my dad still talks about Pat Haden as the greatest HS player he'd ever seen. Not college or pro...but HS.
All of those guys were Parade All-Americans. Joe Montana was a highly recruited QB and he was also recruited in Basketball by several ACC schools.
