    If any of you have used this device, what are your thoughts?

    Slingbox web site

    This device allows you to watch the cable or satellite programming that you have at your house while on the road. You can change the channels, set up DVR recordings, watch recorded DVR programs, etc.

    I started looking for something like this because Time Warner does not update the ESPN GamePlan programming info until midnight on Friday night. If we are going to be away, we can't record the Tennessee games. This will allow me to log on from any computer access in the world and control my home DVR to record and/or watch the game.

    I just today purchased one and installed it. Extremely easy to set up for home use (computer viewing of TV in your home) but is a little user unfriendly setting up for internet viewing. I have figured it out so if any of you try it and have issues, I can walk you through it as long as you know the password to your wireless router.

    I am testing out the internet feed right now but will be interested to see how well it works on a hotel or my Sprint MiFi hotspot connection. I will check that out in New Mexico tomorrow night.

    I have never tried it but it's been around for awhile so it's probably got the bugs worked out by now.

    Tom,

    I have no first hand experience with the device, but have a good buddy who is a pilot for FedEx and as a result is often on the road for long stretches and he swears by it.....he's had it for several years and is always recommending it......

    I've had one two years...hardly ever used it...worked for a while.

    The boys were going on a Jan. trip to Italy with their wives and wanted to watch the OSU-LSU national championship game...so they got me a slingbox for Christmas.

    Worked fine...they got to see the game ok.

    One time I was in a hotel and used it to watch an Indians game on my cell phone while I enjoyed an evening by myself on the patio with a cigar (Mobile Slingbox).

    Now have two issues;

    1. New HD TV and the HD cable box won't send out signals unless the TV is on (I think that is to prevent you from recording HD programs on a DVD player) so I have to leave the TV on to use the slingbox.

    2. Right now the software on my computer can't seem to locate my slingbox, and I am not sure why...they are both hooked up to the internet and it used to work.

    Both problems are probably fixable, but I never used it much anyway and I just haven't had the time to spend fussing around with another tech gizmo that I can't get to work right.
