The boys have been playing nice with one another for almost a year now. Could this end tonight?

All afternoon on WFAN in NYC they have been talking about Manny posing at the plate after his HR last night, the flipping of the bat and then skipping down to first on his way to an unbearably long HR trot around the bases.

It is theorized that he can expect to kiss the ground tonight. Tonight's Yankee pitcher is Randy Johnson who has pitched poorly and comes in with a very bad attitude to start.

    Could be interesting.

I'd love to introduce Manny to one of the Base Barbers.....

it wont be tonite ..it will be next trip into Yankee Stadium. I watched Manny's HR trot 3 times. It was the same as he always does. Payrod had a strange one. He hit one out last nite and thought it was a pop up to the infield..he stood there trying to locate the ball!

    I stand corrected.

Runner on third and two outs. Manny up. A perfect spot to drill him between the 4th and 5th ribs. NO, lets not do that. Let's surprise him with a fastball, waist high and right down Main St.

Johnson deserved that one and Manny was glad to oblige.

Cant lose Wily Mo..Manny in Boston municipal traffic court today. Ran a stop sign and "took out" the stop sign as he went through it! ( some times crime pays!!)

You must have been dying last night on that wild pitch when Wily Mo slept soundly at 3rd base . The BoSox coach was practically pushing him home but he refused to budge. He could have scored from 2nd on that one. In a two run game that is a HUGE gaffe.

This happens as often as Halley's Comet comes around....

talk radio upset with that one today...Manny's blunder ( that turned out positive) they dont even talk about anymore. The thinking was that Timlin and Foulke should have come in when it was obvious Clementine had nada. Boomer getting a chance tomorrow..if he cant hack it I think it will be time to bring up the 3 arms that they have been babying on the farm. Supposed to be better then Papelbon.

It's hard to second guess aggressive play when it works, and sometimes even when it doesn't. Look at Loretta getting thrown out at second trying to stretch his base hit that moved Youk over. If he'd been on base for Manny's homer...

As far as the young arms, only bring them up if they're ready. Look at Maroth and Bonderman of the Tigers today vs. 2003.

Bring on the Fat Man. I'll get some donuts for tomorrow night's game.

Its a calculated gamble...Papelbon rushed from A to AA to the Big club last year..and he is the number one closer in baseball. next year he will be a 25 game winner. I say bring Lester on

I believe JO'Co would agree that in any baseball game ever played since the beginning of time, you can point to no less than 5 and as many as 10 key situations that influence the outcome of the game. As Rick states above, if Loretta does not get thrown out trying to stretch that hit into a double, there is one more guy on base and one less out. The inning could have been entirely different for the Red Sox.

Yes, I agree with Sid. There are always several key plays that could have gone either way, but you can't worry about them or analyze the situation to death. Baseball is different in that regard from football. You already know what you want to do before the game starts, then you try to do it and if it doesn't work, you fug-get-about-it. There aren't many trick plays or misdirections in baseball. Almost everything is do-or-die. The Sox obtained Loretta because he's the kind of aggressive player who will try to take the extra base. This time it didn't work, but over the course of an entire season, having him out there will pay off, big-time. In fact, I still can't believe the Padres traded him. They probably thought that they couldn't afford to keep him long-term, and they were probably right. He's an igniter and before this season ends, Boston will love him...

Give me a guy like that on my team any day. In fact, give me 9 guys like Loretta. If he has JO'Co's and Rick's endorsement, he's aces with me.
