Way to go Astros, hire a guy give him a short stick and expect him to have a high slugging percentage. I have had my problems with Coop, he doesn't seem to be a great communicator and he's had a few runins with Roy Oswalt I believe.

But his failure has more to do with the GM giving him no depth to his starting pitching, and no bullpen than anything else. Not to mention some high price deals that never worked out.

But hey, it's the manager who always gets it in the end.

#1 on my list for the next Astros manager.....

Dave Duncan of the Cardinals....I know he's 63 and nobody has ever thought of him as a manager. But we really need a guy with a clue about pitching.

Wht about a name that is already associated with the organization if you want someone that knows about pitching? The owner of the AAA Round Rock Express could probably be coaxed out of retirement. I don't think you can find anyone that knows more about pitching, headlocks, and right crosses than Nolan Ryan.

Nolan is President of the Texas Rangers at this time, I doubt he'll entertain offers to manage the Astros or any other team. He's never expressed any desire to coach.

Isn't that a conflict of interest being the owner of the RR Express and president of the Rangers?

It would seem so, so I wonder if he's sold his stock to his Son Reid?

    That's possible... I wouldn't know.

Cindy and I have decided not to renew our tickets. The last game we went to, my life was threatened by a long time season ticket holder that was drunk out of his mind. I wanted him arrested but the management ushered him out to the parking lot before the police could get involved.

We still had about 4 or 5 games left in the season and never went back. It was not because of that guy, it is because we are at a venue where we are not allowed to carry and the management shows no concern over the safety of its patrons.

He might be available. I heard that he's not very happy with the Cards since they traded his son.
