Jonas Mouton the UM player who punched Notre Dame's Eric Olsen was suspended by the B10. In a press conference UM coach Rich Rodriguez denied that Mouton punched a ND player. I was sort of flabbergasted that he made that claim given that it was clear as a bell on the tape.

Now it's nowhere as big a deal as the Oregon player sucker punching that Boise State guy, but I guess you could still call it a sucker punch. 1 game is about right IMHO. Olsen wasn't really hurt and never missed a play and as far as I know no tooth was chipped he doesn't have a broken jaw or anything. So justice is done, I just wish RR would have had the stones to admit and apologize for it, along with Mouton.

How about one of the blind mice who was about 10 ft. from the incident? He was probably looking to see if any players were shushing the crowd.

Cool! I never saw or heard about it until someone mentioned it here. Now that I've seen the video and have heard that RR denied it, I'm glad the B10 took action.......at least with regard to the punch. He's going to miss a really important game.

Sid, I'd assumed that you'd seen these. That incident was only one of them.

Wow! I now see what the uproar was all about. I still don't believe those penalties caused us to lose the game, but I officially am joining the ranks of the pissed off ND Skyboxers. I can't wait to get them at our house next year.

That delay of game one is another one that ticks me off.

But like Sid and Corey, I feel we still had opportunity to win the game. In football you have to overcome the refs many times. While we Domers sometimes feel like B10 refs purposely do stuff to us, I read all the time here on these boards complaints about unfair refs. MCG complains that SEC refs are mostly old line SEC school guys who like to stick to UF. Over on the Texas boards some are already complaining that B12 refs let Texas Tech hold with impunity.

You have to overcome that stuff, the worst thing any team or player can do is let them get in your head.

Fine in theory Doc but they keep it close and at the end of the game, your top offensive threat goes out because they have concrete just out of the end zone and your top RB also gets hurt and all of a sudden they have the ball and a chance to win. It never should have come down to that. We played well enough to be up more than a TD at the end. I'm letting it go. But not before I write to Swarbrick and express my thoughts about ending the series and scheduling teams from other conferences with honest refs.

Absolutely correct. I think this may be the single most overlooked fundamental in coaching team sports.

Should we stop playing USC as well while we're at it? I mean PAC10 refs screw us about the same as Big 10 refs.

It's not as apparent when you're losing by 5 TDs+ every year. :D

BTW anyone watch the Boise-Fresno game last night. The Boise receiver made a shush gesture to the crowd on the second to last Boise TD. The TV guys mentioned it. No flag. Then again it was a conference game and calling it would be ********.

    Mike,

I caught that. You'll see that gesture go uncalled another half-dozen times this year alone.

I saw it and ND was my first thought. BS! It makes you wonder if these players get to see any replays of other games to see what they should not do.
