Peter, Paul & Mary is no more. I saw them in person as a college freshman in 1963 at the Stepan Center at Notre Dame. All in all, I saw them live at least once in each of four decades. Mary Travers: A Folk Music Icon My son sent me the following note this morning:

With the gangsta rap musicians that rip microphones from the hands of award winning 17 year olds we have today it is refreshing to sit back and listen to a day and time where harmony and acoustic instruments kept the attention of the listener. <object width="445" height="364"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3t4g_1VoGw4&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0xe1600f&color2=0xfebd01&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3t4g_1VoGw4&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0xe1600f&color2=0xfebd01&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="445" height="364"></embed></object>

In the interest of credit where credit is due, Big 10 Inch Record was written by Bull Moose Jackson in the early '50s. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Rws_7mLTqj8&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Rws_7mLTqj8&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
