Last year when I saw both Miami and FSU play Ga.Tech they had the superior athletes to Ga.Tech and still do no doubt. But last year they both just were too undisciplined to handle Paul Johnsons Option Attack. So it will be very interesting to see what Miami has learned from last year and will they be able to be patient, stay in their lanes and play assignment football or will they bite on the fakes and pitches hoping to make the big plays that they are used to making and free lancing. Of course theoretically Ga.Tech is better this year running the option by virtue of being in their 2nd year of the system with many of the same guys back on offense.
I'm looking forward to this one. It's not only about cutting out the freelancing... it's about knowing your assignments in the first place. Having only one week to prepare makes the option a tough pill for anyone. We don't have to tell the OSU folks about that! 8)
A return to glory for Miami would be good for College Football when they have cleaned up their act as much as it appears. Go Canes!
Was Army running the Service Academy Option when you guys went to the wire with them in San Antono? I think they beat Baylor didn't they that same year...of course that was pre-Briles and they were pretty bad.
No offense to REC, but I wan't Miami stomped into the ground. I went to see the Aggies play them in the Orange bowl... it was NOT a pleasant experience - and I'm not talking about the game. Their "fans" at the game went out of their way to carry on the thugish rep of the old Canes... :x
Scott, No offense taken in any way...As we all know fans can be ugly and pretty much a poor example of the team they pull for. I just wish you would have let me know you were in the area so I could have said hello on the way to Miami. I am about 2 1/2 hours north of the Miami area in the central part of the state. We will see if the Canes are for real tonight with the GT great running game. I enjoy watching the GT coach and his game plans he has installed for each team he plays. As you guys said it earlier, its all about being disciplined and and knowing your assignments. Hopefully its we can keep it below the 475 yds rushing they hit us for last year.. Hey Huskerman is that a picture of Eric Crouch or the blackshirt defense laying on the ground from the 2002 Rose bowl...It kinda favors both of them.. RC
REC, I wish we'd been scheduled for one year later when the Canes moved to the Dolphin's stadium. I suspect things would have been different. The area around the Orange bowl seemed to greatly contribute to the happenings. We were in the Keys most of the time, so it might have been tough to get together, but if I make it down there again I'll make sure to post notice.
Impressive 1st half by the 'Canes. They clearly came knowing their assignments and are sticking to them, they already had the superior athletes so really this is just one of those times that type of offense that Tech runs is not going to work. I love that offense most of the time, but when it comes up against superior athletes who are playing their lanes, and know their assignments they just aren't going to win. But they won't play that many games where there is that much diference in athleticism. Terry
Wow, I have to say I like what I'm seeing from Miami tonight...Going into our first four games this season the thoughts were if we win 2 of 4 we would have a great season. It looks like we finally found the offensive Coordinator we have been missing...That being said Harris is really impressive for his third start of his career... Ralph
Very impressive win for Miami tonight. They looked great in all phases of the game except field goal kicking. I do think the game had to be affected some by the fact that Tech was playing it's 3rd game in 12 days while Miami had 10 days to prepare for the Tech offense. But even with that prep time they still had to have the discipline to stay with their assignments. The OU and VaTech games are huge now for the Miami season. Terry
Canes looked very impressive tonight. They have a lot more on offense than VaT. They're the class of the ACC.
I bowl on Thursday night, at least what I do can be roughly classified as bowling, and don't get to see but part of the 3rd quarter and the 4th quarter. What I did see though, Miami looked very impressive. Bad move by me in our Fantasy league, I picked up the Ga Tech kicker, all of 4 points tonight. Congratulations Ralph.
