Look guys, 1 simple rule here: Ya need NU facts, ask AJ....Ok? 8) (1) TX won the game in '96 in the last 2 minutes of the game on a great play call on 3rd and long. (2) NU was beat by ASSU 19-0. They were pissed off from last year because of the beating they took in Lincoln. To give you an idea of how pissed they were, it was 63-7.....at halftime. Jake the Snake and company were fired up all night long. That was the ASSU team that went undefeated and played that memorable game in Pasadena against OSU. (3) Tommie Frazier missed the entire 1996 season not because of blood clots, but because of Graduation. 96 and 97 were to be Scott Frosts' teams.
Who knows but Nebraska may have been the best in 96 but they did lose a couple of games. Terry, when Spurrier came into the SEC it was a three yards and cloud of dust and play defense. Some people, especially Ray Goff of Georgia said Spurrier's offense would never work in the SEC. Six or seven years later he lost his job after losing every game to Spurrier and the Gators. Spurrier changed the philosophy of the SEC by becoming so dominant that they had to adapt. Now the speed thing is through the whole SEC. Now don't jump on me Corey, I am not saying Spurrier was the whole reason the conference changed, but he sure was a major contributor.
OH, and as far as Bowl game that year? We lost our slim shot at the NC game after losing to TX for the 2nd loss of the season. We played the OB that year and rolled over Drunkenmiller and the Hokies that Bowl game. We rebounded nicely in 1997 for Toms 3rd NC title. And speaking of rebounds, if it wasn't for the FleaKicker at Columbia that year, who knows who would have been champs.
In '96 the SEC was still pretty much a 3yds and cloud of dust conference wasn't it? '92 Alabama team didn't hardly throw the ball at all.
