Poll for when the deadline is in the Jaskewicz contest

I did not realize this but this year there is an option for the deadline for entering your picks. We can have the deadline as 5 minutes before the first game, or 5 minutes before each game.

5 minutes before the first game:

All members can see your picks for every game as soon as this one deadling passes. No changes can be made after that deadline.

5 minutes before each game:

All members can only see your pick for the games that have had the deadline pass. You can make changes to games that have kickoff times more than 5 minutes away.

Right now, it is set at the default: 5 minutes before each game. A tie in the poll results in leaving it this way. It takes a win for 5 minutes before first game in order to change it.

 

Needs to be 5 minutes before the first game. ...actually I'm surprised it's that close. ..but 5 minutes before each game is just nuts.

If there was a choice for it to be 8AM Saturday I'd be for that as well. We seem to always have a Thurs or Friday game somewhere during the season that makes that impractical though.

 

One more issue that might make you lean toward the default setting, is a situation that happened to Scott last year. ... or at least I think it was Scott. He was late getting his picks in and scored zero for that week. I am almost certain that if we had the "before each game" option last year, he could have come in late and selected winners for each game except for the one(s) with deadlines past.

 

Well as much as I feel for Scott in those situations :twisted: It is his responsibilty to get his picks in on time!!

 

Terry, by your comments, I may be wrong but it seems that you are under the impression that 5 minutes before each game means you have to be constantly going back to make picks.

That is not the case. You can still have all of your picks for all games in any time you wish but have up to 5 minutes before the game starts to make changes. If you want to have all of your picks in 5 minutes or more before the first game, you can do that with both options. I already have my picks in and probably won't be changing them. If the deadline remains like it is, nobody will see my picks for games until the individual deadline passes.

 

No I understand that it means you could forget and post your picks after the first game starts and the system will only accept the picks for those games that have not started.

I set this poll for 4 days... right now, it is tied two to two. Get those votes in gang.

 

... I think I'll retract an earlier statement just to remain consistent. Since we were on the "5 minutes before FIRST game" last year, I think it should stay THAT way in case of a tie. The one or two weeks dropped used that same criteria so to be consistent, It will remain 5 minutes before the first game unless 5 minutes before EACH game wins out in the poll.

I think that is the fair way to do it.

Looks like we revert back to the way it was done last year. The 4 days is up and it is a 7 to 6 vote. I am locking the topic and taking the sticky off of it.
