Only 5 days to the first games. I like some of the Thursday night games and like the one this week with S. Carolina and NC State. However Thursday is my bowling night so I usually only get to see the 2nd half of those games. They are on the TV at the bowling alley but I try to not get distracted with them. My bowling game was bad enough last year without being distracted. I'm hoping for better things this year.
Sid, I just stay down at the seats for the bowlers on the alley and the tv's are usually not visible from there. I usually take a look when I go to the bathroom. My concentration last year was pitiful and my leg injury really affected me. I think I have come to grips with a couple of adjustments to my game that may make me more competitive. Let's hope. How's that for a serious answer to a friendly not so serious comment?
Actually, I believe that's CONSTIPATION! That is pretty much the only thing that breaks my concentration from college football!
Bill, I once bowled competitively. Believe me, I understand. I imagine that it was imperative that you focus much more intently than normal on your delivery, given the situation with your leg. Tom, spare me the visual.
Sid, competitively as in pro? League? Yes at my age having to change my delivery and approach is not an easy deal, a lot of years of doing things differently to overcome.
Bill, How is your leg coming along? Is it completely back to normal? Mine is still compromised going up stairs, etc. and I would say it's only at 70% in general except probably 90-95% for walking. I went the non-surgical route and didn't rehab as vigorously as I should have.
Just weekly recreational leagues, but I was a competitive son of a gun. I averaged in the high 150s as I recall. It's been a while.
Dave, I believe I am as much back to normal as I'm ever going to get. I walk up and down stairs normally but there is always a feeling in the knee and it's not quite as strong as the other one. I do think while I was disappointed in my bowling last year that I later realized that since that was my sliding leg it made it considerably stronger than it was before. Also walking on our vacation this year. I think I would put it in the 90% + range in about all situations. Of course we are talking about 90% for a 72 year old man. Sid, that's what I do is bowl local leagues. Two this year.
