I read on my football blog site where Tenn has 187 offers out to recruits. http://www.gridironstuds.com/blog/ DISCLAIMER.....He writes 187 then his chart below says 114???? Confused but oh well also not latest update Tennessee 114 Alabama 90 Florida 86 WVU 86 LSU 80 Florida St. 77 Michigan 70 Georgia 66 Miami 65 Auburn 58 Notre Dame 56 Oregon 47 USC 43 Now Bama last year signed tons of players knowing that several won't qualify and they can send them to prep schools and junior colleges. 1. Why doesn't these scholarships count even if they don't qualify? 2. I just wonder what others think about this and when/if the NCAA will have to do something with this as it's getting more media coverage. Let's keep this a general college football discussion, without going into specific team accusations...ha
This topic was actually broached in the countdown to kickoff topic. The SEC, at its meetings just last week, voted to limit signings to 28 players. I believe that's effective this year. I think Tennessee is offering a ton on the hope that they'll get several commits and be able to pick and choose later who they take. It's risky business and could bite them if they end up having to withdraw offers.
One of the reasons is that the person going to JUCO does not have to return to the school to which he committed. John Brown just committed to Tennessee and was an original commitment for Florida. Former Florida lineman commits to Tennessee
I think that list is wrong. I think the Irish have some where in the neighborhood of 90 offers out there now. Also somebody on a ND board, I forget which one posted that Stanford has even more than Tenn over 200.
Yeah I agree, but everytime you turn around Harbaugh has offered somebody. He probably has to cast a wider net just because of the admissions problems, which are even tougher than ND.
There are offers, but not all of them are ones where you can commit right now. Some of them are conditional. Tom, John Brown is a heck of a football player and by all accounts a good person. He had a lot of academic problems at Florida and has some learning disabilities but it was not from lack of effort, and not from lack of the support from the Gators either. It just didn't work out. A lot of Gator hearts were broken when he had troubles. I wish him well and hope he makes it to the NFL.
