I can't remember a season where we had more returning Sr. QB's of the stature of McCoy, Bradford and Tebow. Bradford and Tebow have Heisman trophys and maybe McCoy can pick one up this year. But you have to wonder if the football gods will smile on them again, all 3 play for loaded teams so they won't be in a position of trying to have great years with little talent around them. I'm sure that is one of the reasons that all 3 have come back, they will all be playing for the Nat'l Championship. McCoy had to deal with injuries as RS Freshman and Soph but was 100% last year which no doubt was a big factor in his stellar season. Tim Tebow dealt with some injuries as soph that didn't really hinder him statistically as he had one of the greatest seasons a QB has ever had. I don't think Bradford has had to deal much with injuries. So will it work out for all 3, will they all be injury free and have great Sr. years? I have to look no further back than last year when Chase Daniel started the year as a leading Heisman candidate and being compared to Drew Brees...will be playing on Sunday was frequently used in describing him. But he ultimately went undrafted and you have to wonder if he'll ever play on Sundays except during exhibition season. There are some guys out there who could have great years and jump up there with the Big 3. Penn State's Darryll Clark, Jevan Snead of Ole Miss, Zac Robinson of Oklahoma State, and Jimmy Clausen of Notre Dame all have that potential for great seasons. Not to mention Aaron Corp of USC who will have the big stage early in the season vs Ohio State and an Oct date with a potentially undefeated ND and Clausen. He could jump up there really quickly. Also you can't forget Ohio States Pryor who could have a Vince Young like year and jump into the fray, esp if the Buckeyes defeat USC in Sept. Last year was a "Year of the QB"....this year expect more of the same? Does anybody play RB anymore?
One thing completely lacking for Chase was any resemblance of a defense UF stands to give the ball back to Tebow in good field position quite frequently.
All three of them stand to have monster seasons. I like Bradford best of all. I shudder to think how good Clausen could be with even a decent O-Line in front of him because he throws as good a ball as any of them and better than some.
Comming back for the Sr. year is always a little risk, Daniels as it turns out would have been better off going Pro, but who knew. Troy Smith came back and won the Heisman, though in his case it wasn't likely he was going to drafted high if he didn't come back and OSU had a really great team. Matt Leinart had a great Sr. season but it wasn't quite as good as his Jr and everybody said he would have been the overall #1 as a Jr, and he dropped a little but I won't feel sorry for his contract and what he might have lost. I don't think Brady Quinn either hurt or helped himself by comming back, he didn't have as good an OL or WR corps as Sr and that hurt him somewhat.
Actually the Big 3 have an indirect impact on ND this upcoming season. Because of them, Mark Sanchez took off from SC early choosing to be in this year's draft rather than next. Ole' Peetie was none too pleased.
Im not too happy about it because Mark Sanchez just might have been the worst QB on their roster this year. I don't think Sanchez was as good at USC as Leinert was, and we'll see about the super young players at SC that are suppose to be taking over.
Stop it with that stuff already......never to early to start the jinx mojo huh? Hell, when VY was Pryor's age he had yet to take a snap.....let the kid learn the game already geez!
