Not going to get me into hyjacking this topic. This topic is about the all world omnipotent gator football machine and how it is going to kill every opponent by at least 40 point per game. All hail the Gators.

So rather than trying to make this topic about me.. why don't you refute one thing I said about anyone on your schedule.

I asked you several questions and you didn't answer a single one of them.. Just more shitty snarky comments about doubting my intention.

You do realize that, aside from this board.. I never think or speak of the Gators. Half the time when someone tells me a board related Gator joke in chat, I have to figure out what they are talking about.

BTW-our schedule at ND sucks. See, somehow whenever I post something about my team or someone else... I am providing good analysis or at least the "Pac10 perspective".. but whenever that viewpoint is turned toward the Gators, I have a Gator obsessions.. Do you have any idea how narcissistic you sound with that crap?

Hell, I just told Tom his Vols are going to get whacked by the Gators (IMHO) and he didn't seem to agree, like it or want to hear more... but he didn't accuse me of having an 'anti-Vol' obsession.

I really think Dave believes that crap, you know better though.

Corey, it's obvious that you and I look at things a bit different. I look at the schedule as a whole, 8 SEC games, FSU and three easy out of conference games. While not the toughest we've ever had I still maintain in the end it will be a fairly highly rated SOS.

I don't see the merit of getting into a game by game analysis, especially since you've already pronounced our schedule as so bad.
I did enjoy your comment about us playing an airport when we play Florida International. :)

Troy, I can't find where they have played the last place team in the SEC recently.

However they did beat the airport about 4 years running, beat Oklahoma State two years in a row and gave Georgia and LSU a tough time. I think they beat Alabama a few years back but can't find out for sure.

But no I don't think we fear them at any level.

Charleston Southern, Shelly Meyer may not have 200 yards rushing by halftime, but maybe by the end of the game????????

I'm the first one to defend the Gator schedule when others take shots about not playing above the Mason-Dixon, etc. but I am also a realist and this year's Gator schedule....while I am sure tougher than some....is not one of the toughest Florida schedules by any means.

It is set up pretty well to be mowed down by what should be a significantly favored Florida team in every game except for at LSU...in which I still expect UF to be a slight favorite.

The toughest game barring big surprises should be the SECCG and depending on how the West shakes out that could be a very tough game.....therefore elevating the strength of schedule in the final analysis.

    What crap?

I do know if Florida was able to win yet another MNC this year....going 3 for 4 that you somehow wouldn't trade any of those titles credibility wise for any single MNC of your home fav Notre Dame.

Somehow.....with no basis for it....any title purely voted on in the olden days by the AP and UPI pollsters carries more weight than Florida having to go through 12-0 Ohio State, 12-0 Alabama and a damned good Oklahoma team scoring at the highest pace in NCAA history with a Heisman winning Qb at the helm.

You are biased against Florida IMHO.....period.

But I'm not asking you to change because that's the nature of sports. People like their favorite teams, regions, conferences etc. and asking them to be completely fair and open minded about others is asking a lot and these biases keep things interesting anyway.

I am so tempted to change MCG's user name to TG. Every post he makes gives me visions of Tony the Tiger saying: "They're Grrrrrrrrreat!

    Bill,

Troy has never played Alabama. There is actually quite a bit of scuttlebutt in this state over the fact Auburn and Alabama won't play Troy. I think there is merit behind the complaints.. Why pay Duke half a million to get pounded when you can keep that money instate to play a better team in Troy..

Still, it won't happen and I believe the Auburn AD took some heat a while back for saying so publicly. It's a situation in which the 2 big dogs in-state stand nothing to gain while risking everything to play Troy, so they won't do it.

I just wasn't going to go there because now my 'Gator bias' becomes an 'SEC bias.'

That is not to say your schedule is without any decent to good teams, there aren't many but there is a few. What really makes your schedule 'light' is that even the non-crappy games set up really well for you. When you're coming off a bye, they are knocking heads against another tough team from a BCS conference. (which the experts tell me are better than the non-BCS conference teams although I haven't seen the proof myself).. Or in cases in which you aren't coming off a bye, you are coming off a game against a weak team while the opponent is playing a real competitive level game.

The way these schedules break down (you will always have a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place team etc in each division), mathematically, you will have to have a decent SOS rank. It is the SEC. You guys carry name brand recognition that will help boost you in the polls and most all of the teams play God awful noncon games so as to put themselves in the 'Hey, we're only beating ourselves down here' spot again.

Corey I think I remember Troy upsetting some pretty good team a few years ago. If so it's not on their site which goes back to about 2005, so I may remember wrong.

Now that we are talking reasonable, I do agree with your above analysis as to how our schedule sets up. However I also believe that it's very hard to go undefeated though a conference schedule in most of the major conferences and there is always a couple of teams that will play you well enough to perhaps pull an upset.

I was always speaking reasonably, but we're not going to spend all day arguing that.

Seriously, for a good football reference guide... Bookmark this site:

You can find Troy's all-time opponents here.

Anyway, they are OK. You should beat them pretty good. If this was one of Urban's 3 multi-loss Florida teams or a Zook team then I'd say they might scare you... but you guys will just out man them. They play with heart.

    Dave.

LOL. Good point. However, I think it is one of those 'rising Tide' kinda situations.

Corey, in looking at Troy's record they beat Miss State in 2001 and played LSU to two very close games in 2004 and 2008. It might be one of the two LSU games that I was thinking about. I think they were leading late when they lost.

But I have to agree we don't fear them.

Oh don't get me wrong Bill, Troy is enough to be a pain in your rear. But I'd bet they don't have more than 2 kids that would start (if any at all) for the Gators. That's kinda my point. They are pesky, but someone you should put away late even in a worst case scenario.
