Terry, I'll do this by memory and if I've missed someone then perhaps someone else can fill them in. Shane Matthews Terry Dean Danny Wuerffel Eric Kresser ( One Game ) Doug Johnson Noah Brindise Jesse Palmer Rex Grossman Brock Berlin (One Game) I think that covers all of them.
Thanks Bill! We were discussing the fact that Steve Spurrier was still recruiting John Brantley over on InsideTexas and he was telling Brantley that if he wanted to get ready for the NFL he needed to come to So.Carolina. I need that list to make a point about Spurrier producing pretty much no good NFL QB's. Jury is still out of course on Rex Grossman.
Good point Jack. The jury is still out on Grossman. However two knee injuries in his first two years could cut his career short even if he could be, and I believe he could, have a good NFL career. Gator Bill
Interesting that the one "franchise" type QB recruited by Spurrier (Berlin) turned out pretty average or maybe a little above average as far as college. I think Shane Matthews was a decent NFL Qb who earned an NFL pension and was being paid 2 mil per year at the end. Not a bad living for anyone. Johnson has also been around awhile but I like Mathews better as a Qb.
Would you have been surprised if when Chris Leake stepped on campus for the Gators if I told he'd not be an All American, not be a Heisman Candidate, not be considered one of the top QB's in his NFL Draft year? He was clearly the #1 HS QB in his class, and similar to Jimmy Clausen this year had been recruited heavily since his he started playing high school football. Of course he has this year to turn it all around, so it's still possible. Terry
I have a feeling that Leak will do very well in combines, etc. Some NFL teams will love his pocket abilities and his accuracy.
